Re: how to reset language

This was a lot less complicated than I thought it was going to be. Maybe some people had a more serious problem than me.. ?

What I stumbled upon in the user's manual after trying to follow some internet solutions to no avail was on pg. 134 & actually a pretty easy fix. For reference, I have the Canon Pixma MP830.
Basically if you hit the menu button on your printer's control button, you'll see two known logos at the top.. You wanna hit the one with the tools.

After that, you'll get another menu. Choose the 2nd button again. Hit OK again.

After this, you'll scroll down from that drop-down menu to the 4th option (this is your language selection "button"). Hit OK.

From there you should be able to choose the language of your choice. - For me this part was in english for whatever reason.

Good luck!

Re: how to reset language

It's very late for this solution but as I found this while trying to fix the problem for myself I figure its worth sharing the solution which I've now written up.

Hope it helps someone as this was not fun.

try this

1. Start with printer off
2. Press and hold resume Button (triangle in the circle) and click "Power" button. green led should be on

(does this refer to the stop/reset button) and when i click the power button do i hold it down or just turn on my printer

3. hold the Power button, release Resume Button. (now if i released the power button like in step two then do step three the power button will turn off my printer)

4. Without releasing the Power Button, double click "Resume" button and then release Both Buttons. (now here my printer is now off so i am to hit my stop/reset button and release both buttons do they have to be at the same time when released)

5. Click "Resume" for four times then click "Power" button, to confirm the selected action (reset counter absorber).

6. Turn off the printer and turn on again

Not Printing + Different Language on Printer Display

The quickest way to do this is to RESET the printer settings since it would be hard to use the settings on the printer itself since it is in Japanese:

Hold down CANCEL, LEFT (arrow) and POWER UP at the same time.

Hope this helps...

I cannot change the language on my HP C4580 printer from Japanese to English. I have tried every method suggest by HP support staff, and it still won't budge. The reset screen flashes by momentarily, but...

You will have to look around and find the little silver battery, about quarter size, usually I put something like an index card under the contact on top and leave it there about 5 minutes. After you remove and power up it should ask for your language preference and start over.

Laserjet 3600 HP printer in wrong language in display led screen

When you say writing, I assume you mean the language on the printer's display. Here's a step by step guide (since I assume you can't read the Japanese).

Press the blue Checkmark button to access the menu system. Press the down area twice which will give you access to the configuration menu. Press the Checkmark button to select this menu. Press the down arrow twice to access the system setup menu. Press the Checkmark button to select this menu. Press the down arrow 13 times (you can just keep pressing it until it gets to the bottom. It won't go any farther than the last entry) to get to the very last entry which is language.Press the Checkmark button to select this menu. The languages will be displayed in their native scripts. The first one is English. Press the Checkmark button to select English. And you are done. Press the U shaped arrow to get back to the main menu.

Printer reset itself in Japanese

My Canon Mp600 has reset itself in Japanese about 4 times over the last 18months, so I now keep a set of instructions taped to the side of the printer. Switch on the printer and get it to the home setting by pressing the HOME button and press buttons as follows:
1. Press the RIGHT arrow on the central wheel until you get the SETTINGS option (spanner & screwdriver icon). Press OK.
2. Press the RIGHT arrow on the central wheel once to select the slider icon on the right hand side. Press OK.
3. Press the DOWN arrow on the central wheel FOUR times. Press OK.
4. Select ENGLISH from the list of languages. Press OK.
5. Attached these instructions to your printer so you have them to hand next time it goes Japanese!!
