LG WD 8050FH does not finish wash - sti...

We have a 9 yo LG front loader - has had some repairs to it.

It does not alwways finish the wash cycle - the spin part finishes and the pump is still pumping . No messages. Have cleaned and done descaler...it did a clean cycle all OK and then one cloth cycle all OK and then next wash cloth cycle - did not end. There was no water left in the bowl - looked thru the drum holes - all clean.

What tells the machine to finish - does it look at water level or runout timer. In the bowl there is the heater and one other probe - is the probe the level sensor???
