I just got a new PS3 from Sony (cause the old one was shot). The picture almost seems like ''fish-eye'' view. The game play and words during the game are all centered in the middle when they should be around the border of the screen. I have reset all the settings, formatted the HDD, called Sony twice. No one has an answer for me. I use the component cables and the PS3 says it is 1080i, but not sure it really is being output into the correct resolution.

In the system settings check to make sure you are "set-up" to use the correct output, Composite, HDMI, also, try using the analog, output that normally comes with PS3 (analog adapter for PS2 will work also), but you have to change the output to analog to try, and you will have to change the settings back to composite or HDMI for 1080i while still using the analog, if you try it, then restart the PS3 and seee if there are any changes, try with as many different outputs, as possible to eliminate that before sending back to SONY for repair or replacement.
Thanks for the nice rating if this helps or solves your issue, or points you in the right direction, Fixya is appreciated. Thanks for the question

Won't play a blue ray disc

The blueray eye is out. You will need a new blueray player. The only problem with that is the ps3 will only respond with the orginal parts it came with. ( i.e. motherboard blueray player ) So the best bet is to buy a broken blueray player and take the eye out and replace it with yours just the eye not the whole thing.

PS3 IS ABOUT 4 YEARS OLD LATELY WHEN I PLAY GAMES AND JUST NOW WHEN I TRY TO WATCH MOVIE THERE ARE LINES THAT FLICKER ON THE SCREEN SO I'M WONDERING WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. POSSIBLY DIRTY EYE??

Not a dirty eye. That would cause skipping and freezing. This is a video problem. Try replacing your video cords for your PS3. If this doesn't work, then it's an internal video issue, and you will need to contact PlayStation to see about getting it repaired.

Your PS3 only frezzes or lags another words when you leave the system on longer then a day or play it longer then a day non-stop i recommend it letting it cool down

My ps3 only plays ps2 games, some music cds and no movies what causes this problem?

The unit more than likely needs a new laser. Some units have 2 laser eyes. One for the blue ray / PS3 games and one for the audio / standard games. Sometimes the laser can become dirty and can be cleaned with a cd cleaner (never had much luck), or by disassembling the unit and cleaning the laser eye with a q-tip and alcohol. New lasers can be purchased off of ebay or through several online stores, but make sure you know which model laser you need as there are more than one.

It wont play games are blue ray movies but it will play regular dvd

your blue ray reader is shot it happened to my brother you can send it in or buy an new one its about the same price though and it also takes forever for them to fix it so you can just buy a new ps3 and take the hard drive outta your old one and put it in your new one and if you cant most gamestop or rock 30 games will do that really cheap

No display when loading game

I have had advice directly from SCE that updates should be done from a flash Drive and not directly from the internet connection on the system, as its quicker and more stable.
I have just had my unit crash on me, by updating first the PSStore update patch, which caused the original issue, then an update for RSV2 pretty much finished it off.

Get the game right in the first place!!!??

Call Sony Customer Support on 08705 99 88 77 (this is a UK number and always check here first for latest numbers: http://uk.playstation.com/contact-us/).
