Scanner not found

I am trying to install and use the Cannon DR-5010C. When I plug it into the computer it says new hardware found and downloads the drivers, the program downloads just fine but when I open CapturePerfect 3.0 or press the scann button on the machine, it tells me that no scanner is found and to check the cable. I know that the cable has to be working becasue it detected it when I plugged it into the computer. I have done this on two computers with the same result both times
