DISHWASHER WONT FILL WITH WATER

By raynor on Sep 10, 2007

MY DISHWASHER WILL NOT FILL WITH WATER, I HAVE CHECKED FOR ANY BLOCKS AND ALL SEEMS FINE, I HAVE JUST LOOKED UNDER IT AND FOUND A SMALL LEEK IN THE WASTE PIPE JUST AS IT LEAVES THE MACHINE BUT WHEN I FILLED IT MANUALLY IN DRAINED OK COULD THIS BE MY PROBLEM. IT MAKES ALL THE CORRECT NOISES AND SEEMS TO BE ALL WORKING EXCEPT FOR THE LACK OF WATER. IS THERE ANY THING I CAN DO...

-   danby ddw497w - water does not fill the diswasher. There are no leaks and the connection is done correctly-   vfiona_gy

-   Exactly the same problem.
To get it working for one cycle only i have to pull the machine out, turn off the water supply to it, disconnect the inlet hose, connect it again, turn on the water supply, then it works, but only for the one cycle.
To use again i have to repeat the process!!
Very frustrating considering it is not very old.-   macmandy69

I don't think that the problem is relates to the leaking water.
Check first the filters on the inlet water line (both sides).
Then, if problem still exist - check that the inlet water valve works(it is an electromagnet valve, located at the pipe's entrance to the machine)).
If it doesn't work, test that it get power. In case it get power and doesn't work - You can easily open the valve and clean it (from scale or other dirt). Be aware you should disconnect the power cable from machine before doing it !!!!
Check as well for valve's coil resistance. In case you have no resistance measurement - you should replace it for a new one.
Good luck

The valve has two control functions.

The basic control is does it get 120 and is the valve working, both mechanically and electrically. A resistance test will tell if the solenoid is operational. a voltage test during the fill cycle will tell whether it is getting 120.

If it is not getting 120, check the float control switch. this is a micro switch that shuts the valve off when there is enough water in the machine. It is just in front of the valve and has a "teeter toter" actuator connected to the float. On mine the metal tab on it had been bent over by a previous repair person, thus placing it in the off position. this could also be a defective micro switch of a stick float actuator that prevents the valve from coming on.

My dishwater begins to fill with water, but won't pump it up into the wash arms. It seems it doesn't have enough pressure. Please let me know what I can look for. Thank you!
