I tried to download a map from mapsource to my gps unit, but everytime it fails and give the following message:
"the gps is unable to program the requested memory region. This could be due to an incompatibility between the application and the gps"
after trying again, it still fails and gives this message:
"The required memory for storing maps is missing from your gps. If your gps uses a programmable data card, check to make sure it is inserted properly"
I'm using a blank 128Mb mapsource data card. My mapsource is version 6.13.2.
Any solution is greatly appreciated.
I think your problem, as it was my also, is the memory card. I tried with a friend of mine's data card (memory) and is working fine, I sent my card to garming after I talk to them over the phone for an exchange.
I have a 276C with 512Mb data card.
I hope this help you to solve it.

This could be because your datum and your posistion format. Under your menu go to setup, then units and make sure you have the correct info set in there for your area. NAD27 Canada would be the one you are looking for. Give that a try and see if it works. If it is still off, consult the manuals that came with your topo and see if it says what datum it uses.
Every time you download it wipes the entire memory card. You have to select all the maps you want stored on the card each time you add a new map. To keep from selecting all the maps everytime you want to download you can save the file in your mapsource software then just add or delete maps from your original map list.
All the mapsets that are installed in your PC should appear in the menu bar on a dropdown list. If you click on it you should see "bluechart" city navigator" etc, if you installed them correctly.
Choose one of the map sets, such as bluechart, from the dropdown list and all the maps from that set should appear on the screen.
As you select individual maps from the map set they will be loaded onto a maplist wich should appear under a tab on the left side of your computer screen.
Then go back to the menu bar and pick your next mapset, such as city navigator. A new map set will appear on the screen but the maps you selected from the previous set will still be on the map list on the left side of the screen.
I hope this helps. Please reply if you have questions about my response.
Did you tried to update your Maps? There are two maps inside your Garmin. Basemap which covers all highways and major roads and mapsource source which cover regular streets. Try reloading mapsource maps.
From the "Where to" menu select the little wrench and then select map and then select Map info. What does it say for Map Info?
If the unit is still under warranty, call Garmin and get a RMA. Return the unit to Garmin.
There are two type of maps in the unit. There is the basemap which shows the states and major highway and roads and then there is the actual Mapsource maps which shows the streets. If you go to Mapinfo and it doesn't show anything, then Mapsource maps are missing.
With the 2610 you can use a card reader for the Compact Flash Memory card to load the maps. This is much faster since the card reader is USB 2.0 while the Garmin USB is 1.1 Under device look for the drive letter which correspond to the Campact Flash card.
