Cellphone headaches!!

Hi, hope someone can help pls!! I had the cell off oneday coz the battery was low. As I plugged it on charge when I got home, I switched it on. Instead of the normal tune that plays when it's initializing, it makes like a scratching sound - wierd!! & then just shows SGH-340E on the screen as normal but then instead of booting up, the screen goes dead, then comes back on with the same text and so it goes... on & off...!
I have a lot of pic's & stuff and so formatting the phone for me is not really an option. If I remove the sim, the phone switches on fine, but then of coarse say's 'enter sim'. Any help would be appreciated!! Thanks :-)
