I'm not familiar with this model of pendrive, however, many removable drives have a small switch on the side or end that allow you to write-protect the media. Check and see if you have a small switch on it.

I've had this problem once and one fine day it just went away. The 'write protect' message never showed up after that. A few days later i found this..
It's a freeware that you can use to write protect your pendrive. Since, your's is already writed protected, extract this software on ur pen drive and try to enable and disable the write protection and see if it solves your problem. I havent had the write protection problem after i got this software so i couldnt really test it. Hope it works for you.

If you buy a new USB drive and it appears to be write-protected from the get-go (and it doesn't have an obvious copy-protect slider), try this (Windows only):
1. Open Start Menu >> Run, type regedit and press Enter, this will open the registry editor.
2. Navigate to the following path:
Note: If the registry key "StorageDevicePolicies" does not exist, you will need to create it
Right-click and save a batch file called add.bat from here:
and double click after download (save it somewhere easy to locate, like on your desktop). The key will be automatically added to registry.
Go back to Step 1.
3. Double click the key "WriteProtect" in the right pane and set the value to 0 in the Value Data Box and press OK button.
4. Exit the Registry Editor, restart your computer and then again re-connect your USB pen drive on your computer.

Those Who Cannot Format Their pendrive.try HP disk formater software or simply format it in FAT system through CMD prompt.

I have the maxell 1GB drive. As people have said, theres no switch on it.
I have tried everything offered here so far, and it hasn;t worked, if anyone has a for sure way, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I honestly tried everything here. I tried the registry one, I tried the other manufacturer software, I tried the link also, and the hp thing. Any help would seriously be appreciated.
