LG Internal Super Multi DVD Rewriter 22x problem

We just bought a new LG Disc Drive for our computer. We plugged it in just fine, and it shows up on My Computer, however it will not eject. From my computer if we click on Eject Disc the driver light flashes, but notheing happens. Pushing the eject button on the front of the driver shows the same result.

Our computer isa Dell Microsoft XP that we bought about October 2006, this is the second time we have had to replace a driver.

Have I done something wrong or is the device faulty?
