Re: Water in Krups caraffe

Look on the bottom for screws holding it together. they may be of the tamper proof design like three slots or just a hex shaped screw. for the hex a standard nut driver will work. for the three slot a special driver is made for it. A torx looks like an allen head screw but with internal star pattern. torx drivers can be purchased.

A Krups KM7005 coffee maker/grinder doesn't heat or drip water .

Mine had the same problem ... all the lights are on, grinding works fine, but no heat on the plate, and no dripping of water.

After a weekend on the workbench, I mastered this machine. The KM7005 has 2 x MicroTemp G4 thermal cutoff (TCO) fuses which interrupt the Live line, for overheat protection. Mine didn't overheat per se, but the TCO blew anyway. Not reset-able ... need to be replaced with a soldering iron. To date, I have helped 13 people on this site fix this exact problem.

I'll be happy to advise you to fix this, or fix it for you. Write me at

Krups KM7005 coffeemaker/grinder does not heat or drip the water

The heating plate is actually your hot water heater for the unit and it has most likely failed. The water flows through the heating plate and heats the water for brewing. Krups replaced my whole coffee brewer.

Cleaning light is blinking and I lost my Manuel. What do I do??

Put 1/3 caraffe distilled white vinegar into caraffe and 2/3 caraffe water. Pour into water reservoir. Press the self-clean button - it may take a while for this process to complete. After it is finished, the self-clean light may or may not go off (esp. if it is a DCC-1100 series). If the light does not go off, just unplug the coffeemaker from the wall outlet for an hour. The manual is available from Cuisinart's website.

Only takes a quarter cup of water to fill

Clean it out with 1/3 caraffe distilled white vinegar and 2/3 caraffe water - you will have to dump the existing water out first. Let the vinegar/water solution sit in the water reservoir for about 20 minutes, and then press the ON button to begin brewing as if it were regular coffee. You may have to repeat the procedure up to 3 times, but it should clear out the blockage.

Won't brew

Run vinegar/water solution - 1/3 caraffe distilled white vinegar and 2/3 caraffe water. Let the vinegar/water solution sit in the water reservoir for up to 20 mins before you start brewing the first batch of vinegar/water solution. Run it up to 3 times - just like you would normal coffee. Then, run a caraffe of plain water and see if all is well.

If that fails, then you have a busted or damaged hose inside.

Call Cuisinart, because that one is still in warranty - you will not need a receipt or a box for that one.

Funny tasting coffee

Vinegar/water cleaning is a good idea, but it won't necessarilly solve funny-tasting coffee. First, replace your charcoal water filter - you can get the Cuisinart brand-name replacements at Lowe's, Bed/Bath/Beyond, or Williams-Sonoma in most areas.

To do the vinegar/water cleaning, just pour 1/3 caraffe distilled white vinegar and 2/3 caraffe water into the water reservoir and brew it like it was regular coffee - I would simply bypass the self-clean function if your Cuisinart has one. Repeat up to 3 times, using a fresh batch of vinegar each time.
(if you have the caraffe-less DCC-2000, then just pour in 4 cups vinegar and 6 cups water).

Then run a full cycle of water. Then run a combo of 12 tsp lemon juice and 12 cups water (or 10 tsp and 10 cups water) to improve the taste.

On your next batch of coffee, use bottled water just to rule out any possibility that your local water supply may be contributing to funny-tasting coffee.

Now your coffee should be tasting fine again.

Krups nespresso not heating water

That is a faulty thermostat or a defective control board.

Contact Krups and have the machine replaced.

Krups fmf 5 water leaks from the bottom of coffee maker

I took the bottom off mine and found that a hose that connected to to the water level tube had become disconnected.
In order to get the bottom off you need a Torx internal tamperproof pin (6 lobe) screwdriver to get the 5 screws out.

Water steams away and nothing drips into the caraffe

I had this problem too and finally found a fix for it.

I don't know if the cause of this issue is the same for everyone experiencing the problem, but the issue for me was hard water. The fix is to run vinegar mixed with water through the machine quite a few times, until it starts to run normally.

If you do have hard water issues, it's recommended that you run vinegar or citric acid through the machine about once a month, to keep deposits from building up.
