SOURCE: I have a Casio fx-300es calculator. It displays
Hello,
I guess you are not interested in knowing that you can switch from one form of display to the other by simply pressing the [S<->D] key, but I had to say it.
If you do not want to be bothered but the sight of fractions and radicals anymore, press [SHIFT][MODE][2:LineIO].
However, in this LineIO mode you lose the nice features that distinguish the Natural Display calculators from the old generation. And pressing [S<->D] will not switch between exact (fractions, radicals) and decimal displays.
Your choice.
Hope it helps.

Hello,
Generally, MathIO gives results in fractions or radicals. But sometimes it does not. I tried multiplying or dividing fractions or radicals by integer numbers, and once in while I got a decimal result and was unable to cast it into a fraction or a radical. I was not able to find the pattern.
In lineIO you only get decimal results.
What can one tell you that you cannot determine for yourself? If you appreciate the functionalities of the MathIO, it seems like an insignificant price to pay to press ONE button to switch between displays. It needs to be done ONLY once, for the last result one wants to record.
Your calculator, Your rules. But sometimes one cannot eat the cake and have it too.

To change a displayed result into a fraction, press the [S=D] key.
To force a result to be displayed as a decimal number before it is displayed, press [SHIF][=] instead of [=].

To convert a single value from symbolic to decimal, press the S-D key (just above the DEL key). To have all results come out in decimal, press SHIFT MODE 2 to switch to the LineIO mode.
You can download the manual and the appendix here.
