Question about Sony KV-36XBR400 36" TV
Purchased in early 2001. Several months ago, started receiving sound without picture. For the first few months, if allowed to play without picture for a while and powering on and off a few times, the picture would return. Could always tell when the picture was going to return after power-up cause we would see flash of light around the perimeter of screen, along with the sound of static discharge from the screen. Now it will rarely show picture - no static sound either. Unplugged over night several times, but no change. On one or two occasions recently, picture just popped-in after several hours of play with sound only. Now, at power-up I just hear a click sound followed within a few seconds with a second click that seems to be coming from a different source than the click heard at power-up. Before the problem started, the kids had moved the DVD from the pedestal beneath to rest on top of the set. It remained there for several months. At times, I noticed a purple hue in the upper corner of the screen closest to the DVD player. Could this have caused this damage? Have not been able to isolate the number of standby flashes at power-up. It does not seem to be consistent. Today, during one series of power-up attempts, I got 11, 10, & 8. Several hours later, I got 11, 10, 8, 7, 6, & 5. Repeated attempts yielded 8, 7, 6, & 5. Could this mean that I have multiple problems? Today, I removed the back and found the inside to be extremely dirty; Dirtier than the inside of any PC I've opened. We remodeled the house about two years ago and due to the set's weight, we didn't move it to storage, but simply covered it with a blanket and worked around it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Hello, You have a high voltage section problem I would not suggest fixing this set on your own. You will need to take this set to the shop. Because there are no user repairable parts inside of the set.
