SOURCE: drum off balance

It's either a bad suspension spring or you have a crack in the tub support.

SOURCE: Walking during the spin cycle

My GE front load washer model WCVH6800JBB have the same problem. I just purchased and installed it yesterday, 05/04/09. Just like everyone said... when it got to the spinning cycle it walked to the middle of my garage and all the connections in the back of the machine fell off. My husband checked the instruction... There are 4 nut bolts in the back of the machine near the rubber leg (level). You need to take them off and try to balance your machine again. My washer is running very smooth now. Good luck!

SOURCE: whirlpool washing machine 6alsr7244mw3 always out

A very common call I get on Whirlpool built direct drive washers, and one of very few problems they have, is that the machine vibrates like it's out of balance when spinning even without any clothes in the basket. Sometimes it'll walk across the floor if this is allowed to worsen. The cause is nearly always support pads. The entire mechanism rests on these three small plastic pads, and when they wear even a little bit, the machine will vibrate like crazy in spin, like its load is badly out of balance. Replacing these pads (part 285744, around 10 for the set will nearly always correct this problem. And they aren't hard to replace if you re just a little handy Here s how Unplug the washer. Remove the 2 Phillips screws that retain the console. On some machines, these are hidden under console end caps that must be pried off. On newer models they re on the back of the console Rotate the console fwd then up and back it will hang back out of the way if the washer s away from the wall far enough.Unplug the white lid switch plug and pry up the 2 large clips that hold the cabinet to the washer back panel.Tilt the entire cabinet forward and it ll unhook from the retainers on the base. Lift the cabinet off and set aside (not as heavy as it sounds With the cabinet off you ll see 3 large horizontal springs, one in each corner of the support 'tripod and one smaller, vertical one in the left-rear that counterbalances the motor's weight. Unhook all 4 of these springs and insert a small piece of 1 by (5 8 or 3 4 thick) board to prop the mechanism up, to access the pads one at a time. Insert the piece of wood between pad locations, on a side of the support triangle a helper's handy here Use a little lighter fluid to clean the mating surface of the support plate that these pads ride against before inserting each new one. Be careful not to scratch the support plate when working under it it needs to be smooth and contaminate-free. Knock the old pads out one at a time, by lightly tapping on their mounting pins from underneath with a hammer. Put each new pad in place in its mounting holes, carefully remove the wooden 'shim then stand up and push down ******* the tub on that corner. You ll hear and feel the pad snap into its mounting holes.Repeat this process for each of the other two pads mounted on the support tripod' (do the rear, 'fun' one last after you have experience replacing the other two and your washer will behave a whole lot better in the spin cycle. And if you have any trouble finding these support pads locally, let me know. I keep lots of them in stock. You can order a set here Oh, and remember to reach around and pat yourself on the back! You just saved yourself at least 100.00

Why does my washer stop spinning on final spin cycle and show code of UL even when there is nothing in washer?

you either have a broken tub support spring or, the uneven load sensor is reporting because of a bad controller unit.

My Whirlpool Cabrio WTW6400SW2 has a F50 error. I

The F50 error code indicates that the RPS (rotor position sensor) detects no motor rotation. Check to see if the basket spins freely. If not, you could have an item caught between the outer tub and the inner spin basket. A toy or other item underneath the washer could also prevent the basket from spinning and would result in this F50 code.

If the basket spins freely, you could have a wiring failure that would prevent the motor from spinning.

Washer shakes as if unbalanced during spin cycle I think that part of the suspension has failed, the result is the washer shakes violently during the spin cycle but otherwise seems to perform reasonably...

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action

Enter your model number (###.######) and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.

Whirlpool / Kenmore top load, direct drive washers use a number of springs between the main suspension plate and base assembly as well as friction pads that are designed to minimize shaking.

See the Whirlpool / Kenmore service manual for top load washers.

It's likely that one of the springs or pads has broken or come off.

See the following for how to remove the cabinet to get at these.

The problem could an improper leveling of the machine. Also could be bad drum bearings or even damaged ones because of the previous heavy spins.
