You didn't specify if you're using DSL or cable.

I've run into this dozens of times. With DSL, keep in mind the software on the PC is what "dials out" to the ISP with your name / password, and you MUST set the name and password in the router. Otherwise, ONLY the computer that has the software installed (verizon, etc) will be able to connect.

If you're using a cable connection, you don't have to do this, however, most newer Linksys routers come with a 'setup' disk, which MUST be used regardless of connection type.

Click "start" then "all programs" then "Accessories" then "Command Prompt". Type ipconfig/all and hit enter. Write all of this information 'cause you'll need it later.

Power down your modem and restart your computer. Make sure your ethernet cable is in the correct WAN slot. Power your modem back up before restart ...reset your router by holding in the button [with a pen] behind right antenna for 15-30 seconds.

When your computer restarts, open your browser and type http://192.168.1.1. Type admin into each box. Now you're inside your router. Correctly enter the information you wrote down from the command prompt . Each page you fill out, i.e., Setup, Wireless, Security...be sure to click "SAVE SETTINGS".

Any issues you have after that just watch this video.

My Belink (F5D8236-4) Router stopped working. The modem light blinks orange. When connecting the modem directly to the PC the internet works. How do I resolve tis issue?

Turn everything off, modem, router and computer.
It shows your router is not configured properly
Turn on the modem first and wait for a solid data/connect light.

Turn on the router, give it two minutes.

Still if problem presists you need to reset the router ..

How to reset::
Push and release the “Reset” button.
The lights on the Router will momentarily flash.
The “Power/Ready” light will begin to blink. When the “Power/Ready” light becomes solid again, the reset is complete

Modem light is blinking no internet light

hi, there are two ways to assit you on this issue.Either you can call belkin customer care which is a TOLL FREE no. on the product box and get assisted or else proceed with the following basic steps.
1. the product that you have is an obsolette.
2.Before troubleshooting the belkin product. Please connect your computer directly with the modem (without router)on the ethernet(lan) port and check for the solid lights on the modem after turning it on, after that check for internet connectivity, if you can go online, its fine else you need to contact your modem vendor and get fixed.
3. if u can go online, then connect your router isolated port to the modem amd your computer back to the router's lan port(port 1) and check for the solid internet, power, modem, lan lights on the router.
4. if all are solid lights , check you can go online else you can hold the reset button at the rear side of your router for 2 mins if you have a cable modem and then check for connectivity.
5. If you have a dsl connection , then better contact customer care, they assit you very well.

  • OFF Router is off

Router willnot connect with the internet

I never use the disks, try the following:-

1. Turn off both the linksys and your modem
2. Turn on your and wait for the usual lights to turn solid
3. Turn on the Linksys and wait 30 secs
4. Press the button on the front to the left. It does not look like a button but flashes while it is finding an ip address
5. now connect with an Ethernet Network Cable and make sure the internet is working
6. Next Setup the Wireless Encryption, if you don't know how to do this, post and I will help
7. Disconnect the cable and Connect Wirelessly

If you have limited connectivity then next try this: http://www.howtofixanything.co.uk/howto-269.html
