Re: sony cybershot w50 zoom problem

Take it to a warm place to thaw out then try. If no joy then assume it has broken. If broken then it is not likely to repaired at reasonable cost - check out Sony for an estimate

Manual zoom does not work when I try and use it

Most likely the motor mecanisim was damaged when you dropped it. was unable to locate a sony dealer in nepal, You could try Sears if there is one in nepal.

Hope that was helpful.

Hi, I have a Sony Cybershot camera, and the zoom doesn't work. It did use to work, so i'm not sure if i've pressed something to stop it working. Please advise.

To determine if it is a faulty zoom, switch off and remove battery then reinsert battery try again then go into the camera menu and look for the item which says reset camera settings to default or similar. (sorry I don't have the menu to hand but if you can't find the option I will check for you) Do this and try again. If the zoom does not work then you have a faulty zoom and the camera will need to be dismantled to repair.
I hope I have been of help but please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.

The slightly open shutter is the reason for this problem. Thank God you mentioned it.
Solution: Try with your fingers to shift the shutter “blades” back and forth to see if they move freely. If they do no move freely it maens the shutter “blasdes” and stuck by particles/dust/something. So you just continue to shift them like that untill they are free again. Once they are free turn your camera back on and it should perform as normal.

Sony Cybershot DSC-W150-turn power on, lens zooms in/out; screen reads "turn the power off and on again" but camera won't work. Battery is fully charged

It's probably stuck focus. Contact your local Sony service center, but if they ask too much, you can contact me at and I will give you a good price.
I work in Sony service center.

DSC-W80 zoom extends, shutter opens, closes, zoom closes, 5x, won't work

Hey kbcinc,
I would try taking the battery out and waiting a minute and then reinserting the battery. Another option you have is to try and reinitialize the camera, but you would need access to the settings menu on the camera and it doesen't sound like you do. To initialize the camera go to main settings 1 and choose initialize. If this doesn't work I would bring it to an authorized service center to have it looked at.

Go Ahead. Use Us.
