Pitted glass cooktop in Jenn Air Model JGC9430ADS

Hi, Anyone know why the Jenn Air Model JGC9430ADS was discontinued? I recently purchased one, online, and when I opened the box the glass top appears to be "pitted" with very small pinprick type holes, like during the manufacturing of the "Ceran" cooktop glass, the product "bubbled". Does anyone know if there are known problems with the finish on these things? I purchased a Gas/glass black with stainless trim. Would sure like to know before I go raising heck with the mfr or seller.

Did you find anything out? We have had our Jenn-aire gas stove for 1 1/2 years and just noticed today that the surface has bubbled in a spot??? I did clean the oven last week.

My jenn-air 8430 cooktop left front burner cycles off-on in the HIGH position. What could be wrong?

I am assuming your cooktop is electric and your have a glass top, if so the burners sensor is bad and you might need to replace the burner. Again before buying anything and for me to help you, I would need a full model number. Some model have plate sensors and with no plate/pot burner cycles. Most of the time I find the sensor in the burner cant detect the heat and this ends up being a safety issue to protect the unit. All this information is based on the premise you have an electric cooktop and a glass surface.

I hope this helps.

I have a Cooktop Jenn-Air Model JED8430. The cooktop glass is broken. Would it be possible to change only the glass? If so, where could I get an other one ?

Yes, you can change just the glass. It is called the maintop assembly and usually starts at $275 and goes up. You will need to get the remaining 3 digits for your particular model in order to get the right glass. A good place to start looking would be:

Yes you can. Call Jenn Air ((877) 232-6771) and give them your model number (serial is helpful too). They sent my replacement glass within a week. I have a model JED8430ABD from 2000 and they had the top. Fit perfectly and took about an hour to replace.

To change it out, after unplugging the cooktop, I removed the metal tape connecting the external vent shaft to the blower. Then I just lifted the entire cooktop out up out of the countertop so I could access the screws on the sides of the cooktop (looking at the edges of the new cooktop glass helped me figure out which screws to remove around the edge). Then I removed the 2 screws in the vent area on top (1 black screw on each side). And that released the cooktop glass from the metal box that holds the burners. I then took the rubber rings out of the knob holes so I could put them in the new cooktop (I almost missed that...). Finally, I put the new cooktop glass on, put the screws back in, lowered the cooktop back into the counter, and retaped the blower to the vent shaft. Voila!

I really wouldn't be afraid of doing this yourself if you are handy at all. And it will save you a ton. Good luck.

PS The screws around the perimeter are hexigon shapped, so you can't just use a screwdriver. I found my Black & Decker electric screwdriver had that same shaped hole that it held the bit, so I just pulled out the bit and used the screwdriver that way. Worked like a charm.

Jenn Air Expressions radiant module for CVEX4370

Found the solution. It was a simple one duh! Six screws. After looking at the picture of the glass and realizing that the glass comes on a frame, I noticed the screws just below the glass on the cartridge. The glass frame sits inside the base of the cartridge. It took about 5 minutes. mmaque

Cleaning area around burners

Try regular oven cleaner (not the overnight kind) . This will work if there are no aluminum or painted parts. Don't do this if the instruction manuel says not to.
