Since you rated my first response as unhulpful, I'll assume you already tried it and that wasn't the problem..... :/

If you don't get sound on ANY source (tuner, DVD inputs, etc...) then your audio amp chip is damaged and will require replacement.

My sansui tv makes a loud high pitch noise. I have had it 3 years, it is a a riging noise, and hard to hear the tv shows. what do i do?

ever since for ever, ive always heard a loudish high pitched ring from analog tv's. e.g. i would know a tv was on in another room even if it was muted. ive told other people about it but they dont seem to hear what i hear. so im gonna geuss either

a. analog tv's all make that noise to a verying degree but most people just dont notice it or subconciously cancle it out as normal.

b. its a kind of hyper sensitivity to high pitched noise, in essence, tinitus.

on a final note, its not medical as i always pass my hearing tests. but to answer your question, either buy a digital tv or turn up the volume.

I cant hear my buddies when using ichat but they can hear me perfectly and clearly.. Also I cant get sound when using quicktime especially with .avi files.

This is easy..
Your buddies need to raise their microphone volume, which may be muted. System preferences, sound, look for the microphone slider and raise it to full.
Quicktime doesn't like AVI's by default, and even when it does work, it usually won't play the sound. There are two solutions.
1. download 'flip4mac' which is a quicktime plugin for playing AVIs (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/wmcomponents.mspx)
2. Download VLC, which plays everything, and has the excellent feature of raising the volume to 300% (great for crappy laptop speakers). http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-macosx.html

The sound control is set at a super low level...To be loud enough to be heard without a problem at a normal distance, the number on the sound level has to be at 90 or 92..My other tv's the same volume is a...

Have you used the remote that came with the TV to raise the volume? Often, when there is more than one remote, one of them is set too low and all you need to do is use the remote that came with the TV to raise the volume level. Good Luck!

Sansui 21in LCD VOLUME is lowering

If you are using a set-top box for Digital reception....check the output volume setting by going to the menu then audio set up section. On standard TV transmisssions the sound is often fine but on Digital....the box sets the feeder audio signal level.

Tv + converter box = no sound

Try these steps: Turn the volume on your converter box all the way down. Turn the volume on your TV up to ½ way. Now turn up the volume on your converter box until it is at a comfortable level. More information at http://www.ezdigitaltv.com/index.html

Ps2

The ps2 has a sound threshold, which it cannot surpass. Do you hear any volume at all? If you hear NO volume, verify that your audio visual cable is properly seated in both the TV and the console. If you hear some volume, and its just really quiet, try a different TV.
