Question about Sharp R-530ES Microwave Oven
Our microwave is 6 years old now; has the issue with the numerals not quite showing up properly (apparently a $32 fix is available for that), but besides that; last night it apparently finally quit. Seems to run ok, but defrosts nothing, heats nothing. Any ideas besides buying a new microwave?
The most common causes for a lack of heating are a bad door switch, a loose connection on the magnetron, a bad magnetron, bad connection on the control circuit board, a bad relay on the board, bad high voltage diode, or bad high voltage transformer. If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info (as well as a text file which helps in diagnosing and repairing door switch problems) at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk We are the ones who repair the displays and control boards, by the way.
