Question about Panasonic PV-GS150 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

1 Answer

Damage to camera

I've never had any problem with my PV-GS150 -- until this weekend when my tent blew over in the wind, tore and spilled about a liter of sand on the camera which was "safely" stashed inside. Now it's all haywire because of the sand infiltration. Should I consider this a complete loss or are there people who can clean it out and get it functioning as good as new. This is important because I rely on this for my freelance writing and photography business.

Defective mechanism, a stucked mechanism is present. camcorder are smart it can detects error and shuts down itself for safety. earlier models dominoes the defect if the user is not quick enough to react when something goes wrong with the camera. You need professional service to fix it.

This is a PV-GS150, hopefully it similar. Dropped, no obvious external damage, won't turn on, battery OK, recharged externally. Slide switch moves from off to no, no lights come on, no life anywhere,...

The possibilities are literally endless. It could be anything from a bad switch, to a loose wire, to a blown fuse, to a blown board. Without some pretty sophisticated tools, some spare parts, and an in depth knowledge of the unit, it's not going to be fixed. If you like the cam enough, take it to a qualified repair center. If not, junk it and get something else.

My pv-gs150 will not power up

This is usually caused by a failed component in the power circuit within the camera and can usually be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired qualified service technician.

My name is Rick and I'm a professional repair technician with over 20 years in the business and have repaired many of these. I'm semi retired and work from home with little overhead so I can keep repair costs low. If you decide to have the camera repaired, please click HERE for a directory listing that suits your needs.

The solution is never buy a Panasonic DV camera. Tons of users complain of focus failure and Panasonic pretends the problem does not exist. Great cameras otherwise but out of focus does not cut it.

I am unable to connect my Panasonic PV GS150 handycam and Vista business edition running laptop using a USB cable. Do I need driver S/W?

You will need to install the USB driver from your software(disc) to your vista.

and make sure the computer is recognizing your camera, check under control panel and device managers list if your product is listed under imaging devices, but chances are you might be having compatibility issues since it doesnt have an updater for Vista, hope this help. pls dont forget to rate. Thanks!!

Push the reset button

let the camera sit alone for About 20 min,so that the camcorder automatically turned off. I turned it off, then back on and did not receive the reset button prompt.
if that doesn't work unplug the battery and all power and plug back in.
