I acquired a fully functional Technics SA-TX50 receiver. It works perfect. The issue i have is there was buzzing coming from the inside of the unit, during higher volume levels. I opened the unit, and determined the fan is pulsating with the sound level. It is the physical pulsing of the fan speedi up and slowing down instantaneously with the beat of the music. It is not driven by vibration, as i have only headphones connected. It seems the fan is tied to the output of the output transistors. As the vu meters go up and down, so does the pulsing of the fan. Is this a filter capacitor problem, a power supply issue, or just a worn out fan? Thanks. rod.

Ratnesh, I have this same receiver and the fan only comes on at certain volume levels. Unfortunately I now live in an apartment and can very rarely listen to it that loud. I had the same problem for a little while until I thought about moving the receiver to the lowest shelf with nothing on top of it. This seems to have worked so far although it does still get quite warm. Good luck!

SOURCE: technics sa-ex300 says overload ?

it could be overheating - try aiming a fan at it for a while, see if the problem stops.

UNPLUG the receiver from the outlet. Take cover off. See the circuit board to the right of the dial (front facing U) behind the glass window. The bottom of those circuits are connected by pins that fit the other circuit board. Press them together or tie that corner safely to the back end using non-electrical wire (use poly-twine). When you do this you will not be able to put the cover back on. You will have to leave it exposed. If you like your receiver that much like I do - this is the solution I found. Put the receiver back where it is protected (from kids, juices, water, etc.) and enjoy your surroundsound again. You might have to do that to the other side. It worked for me. Use common sense when looking. Good luck.

SOURCE: I have an old Technics

Reliance on the remote instead of walking across the room to touch the unit will not solve anything. On many receivers, Muting is cancelled if the volume knob is turned to a louder level. Try that.

There's a used original remote for $12 delivered on eBay right now.

NO SOUND COMING OF THE SPEAKER

I have the same issue. The power comes on but no sound goes to the AU meters or Output. I have fixed dozens of cold solder joints on the circuit board but it did not fix it. I now am removing the RB1716AB board from the transformer and noticed the black retaining clips are broken. Intermittent connections? Maybe trying to get the clips now.

Overload sa-tx50

Most overloads are caused by the main output devices. They will go short circuit if for example speaker wires have come into touch. Another cause is high volume or a faulty speaker. Or poor ventilation around the amp causing excess heat.
The only cure is to replace the device(s) generally located on the heat sink.

Unit comes on ,work and shuts off. Comes on again ,work for a while and shuts off.

This is a common question on this site. Amps of all types have protection circuits to keep them from doing a self meltdown. Testing follows this logic. 1. Remove all speaker wires. 2. Keep the volume down - all the way. 3. Turn the unit on. 4. If it does not trip off, then there is a problem either in a speaker or the wiring. a. Reconnect one at a time until/unless it trips off b. That will tell you where to look further.
If it does trip off, then there is an internal circuit issue in the amp and probably requires professional help to fix.

My Tchnics Sa-Da10 shuts down on what appears to

Ahh technics. Technics always had overheating problems, trust me. Every since they started, their amps would get so hot they would hurt to touch. The reason the fan is not coming on seams to be something inside the circuit board. I'm sure that technics could fix this. If the fan works out of the receiver, then it must not be the fan. ;P

I would maybe get a computer fan, and just put it on top of the receiver and turn it on, or send it in for fixing. Also, do you have to crank the volume to get the speakers to play at your volume, and does the impeadence match the receiver. Because you may be pushing the receiver too hard.

Technics SA-DA10 Receiver-no sound

Most of these problems are rooted in a failed power amp module.
I'm working on an older technics unit but with the same troubles.
