Repair ist simple: unscrew the L-shaped main board first, then unscrew the metal shield behind. No need to unplug most of the wires.

Hi the HP Laserjet CM6040 how to reset the document feed roller go to administration then go to reset menu then in reset menu scroll down until you see the new document feed roller select either yes or no. Hope this helps

Otherwise, the other issue I had late last year was that it needed a new intermediate transfer belt (part #RM1-4436-000CN). You can find a good deal on one, and the instructions for replacement are on page 156 in the service manual: http://www.feedroller.com/Store/Service%20Manual/HP-CLJ-CM1312-MFP-Manual.pdf
It's not the hardest replacement ever, but needs 2-3 hours depending on skill, and a little patience.

If you mean toner, you can probably do it, but most new printers have a memory chip on the cartridge which keeps track of toner. Adding toner will not change the count and the printer will ignore the new toner

This maintenance kit consists of a fuser, pick up rollers, transfer rollers. On this model you can also reset the maintenance count by entering the service mode and sometimes by scrolling down to the config menu until you see resets.

The 50.3 is a fuser Temperature error. If your pages have toner and image but are smudging or smearing you know the fuser is not heating and needs to be replaced.

If your printer is still under warranty contact HP Customer Care for warranty replacement of fuser part numbers: RM1-1082 for 110 volt, RM1-1083 for 220 volt. (888) 999-4747.

If your printer is out of warranty, suggest you purchase a maintenance kit part # CB388A HP maintenance kit for LaserJet P4014 P4015 P4515, includes other needed high wear parts.

Hi Steve,

a middle aged HP CLJ 4500; a middle drawer (transfer area) paper jam, unusually involving about 6 sheets; once the paper was removed, the transfer roller was found to be dislodged at the left end; after refit, the drawer will not close by about 1.5" (but closes fine with transfer assembly in place). I cannot see the interference. I found three references to the identical problem last night, but no answers.
I have (and have fitted) a new transfer kit, including new roller; no change.

with the power on, press the down arrow button until the display reads " Configure Device" menu. Press the Select button and using the down arrow button, scroll through this menu until the display reads "Resets" and press the Select Button. Then press the down arrow button again until the screen reads "Reset Supplies" and press Select button. Once you get to this menu this is where you can reset the fuser and the Transfer belt count
