Samsung syncmaster 910t won't display

I just cleaned my monitor screen. When turning it back on, it woudl not display anything; it eventually gives me the message "Not Optimum Mode. Recommended mode 1280x1024 60Hz" Then it will eventually say check cable. I've had the monitor 2 yrs, no problems, and the cable is hookeed up properly. What si my problem??? Thanks.

Since I'm using two Samsung 913V, I was able to swap the connections on my graphics card. The problem remains on the same monitor.

This means it's not a connector problem or a graphics card output problem.

When I plug out the mains cord for a while, the monitor is working for about half an hour. Then the problem reappears. It's as if one should reinstall the firmware of the device. I don't know if this makes any sense regarding a LCD monitor.

While working normally, the monitor simply goes off with no apparent reason, and a floating sign reads: "Not optimum mode Recommended mode: 1280 x 1024 60 Hz". I unplug it and after some time, it eventually turns back on again, but it does this quite often, maybe once a day.

When another monitor is plugged in, the CPU works normally, so it is a problem with the monitor itself, not the system.

    SyncMaster 710M
It wears when the room temperature is low but this OSD is immediately displayed when turning on a heater.

  • Anonymous Mar 01, 2008

My SyncMaster 710m have same problem.
When the temperature of the room is low, as for this problem, the occurring time seems to become long. It is useless when turning on a heater.

I suppose that there is a problem in the firmware of the many Samsung's LCD monitors, but the degrade of the parts, will be related too.
It may be the distortion which has occurred to the analog sync signal.
For example, degradation of the parts of analog-amp,  noise mixing with the analog-signal, or ripple of the power-line, may be cause.

a year and a half old. Checked it on several computers and with different cables. So the error is within the monitor

  • pelke72 Sep 09, 2008

I also have suddenly the message "Not in optimum mode, Recomended mode is 1280x1024 60hz", but it is in this mode.

Rebooting or unpluging does help somethimes, but most of the time it does not.

Untill now I have no solution.

Ahh...I am having the same issue and getting frustrated as well. The room the screen is in does tend to get a little cooler and it is next to window. Should I move it? As far as firmware is concerned, it will be rather challenging to upgrade this if I can't see. :) Any suggestions/feedback are greatly appreciated.

Same problem on the 19" Samsung Syncmaster 913v.

No fix yet, but will keep you all posted.

  • donjuanho Mar 29, 2009

Don't hold your breath waiting for someone to come up with a fix. I've been lucky enough to come up with a working 913T. I swapped boards and found problem to be the board on the display itself. Non replaceable without replacing the expensive display panel itself.

What i had to do is Press F5 or F8 when the system is booting. This will give you option to boot in Safe Boot and etc. One of the options is Enable VGA. Once i clicked on that my display worked again.
Hope this helps.

I have samsung 710n and i have the same problem, i think it comes from temperature, when it gets high and the monitor restarts or i logg off from my user it comes a black screen and the same problem, then I just turn off my monitor for 5 ot 10 minutes just from power, just monitor and when it gets cool then it works again. I tried to search solution and I think it is monitors matrix burned or crashed, I have almost 5 years this monitor and only now this problem appeared...

Samsung sucks! Is a hardware circuit problem.....

I had this same issue. What you may want to try doing is unplug the monitor and then replug it back in.I did this by unplugging the monitor from the back of the LCD and then repluggged it right back in. The display came right back and the floating message went away. Some others having the same issue suggest waiting 5 minutes before replugging it in. Other state this solution only works for a short time and to have the monitor RMA'ed if it is still in warranty. I hope this helps.

Boot up your computer, then press F8, this will bring up a screen with a few different options. Select 'enable VGA' and this will fix it

The display on screen says check digital cable... i replace the one which is working with another monitor

If it's giving you a missing signal and you've tried a different cable it would be in your best interest to try a different monitor. It's very possible that you have a either a bad graphics card or a bad monitor.

Where can I find drivers for Samsung's 910t monitor? A generic is controlling it now & it's not coming close to the quality it had. (The computer crashed & I installed a new hard drive but the...

The problem is not the LCD monitor; the problem is that the current device-driver for your computer's video-card is a "generic" ("low-resolution") device-driver.

Open "Device Manager".
Expand the "Display Adapter" section.
Double-click the video-card.
Click "update driver" and let Windows access the Internet, to search for a better driver.

My SyncMaster 910mp LCD TV monitor switch thus not turn on. The green light bleeps and the screen goes blank. Can you help?

ritchaddison, Problem could be inside monitor. If "cold-cathode-fluoresscent-lamps" fail to stay lit. problem might be the "electronic ballast" circuit needs work done on it. Also check the "switch-mode-power-supply" for typical failure modes that result in "black screen" complaints. Remember this!! Your monitor no different than any other brand of CCFL back-lit LCD display in it's basic design and operation. Software not problem. Only you or qualified electronics technician will repair this unit. Read my and other LCD monitor tech's fixya profiles to make decision on what option you will use on 910mp unit. 12fixlouie

Hooked Samsung SyncMaster 931BF monitor to laptop and the letters on the screen are choppy. I can play with the settings on the monitor but can't get the letters to line up straight.

This looks like a driver/resolution problem. Which laptop are you using? New laptops shouldn't give you any hassles, but older models don't always have the graphics cards to support all monitor sizes.

Make sure your monitor driver is installed on the laptop and that you have the latest graphics drivers installed for your laptop.

You can download the screen driver here:

Then check that the resolution for your monitor is set correctly on your laptop under display properties. The native resolution for the screen is 1280x1024.

Hope this helps,

I found a site that sells your (our) part: Look up that model number for the power supply under "Part #" and it seems to run about $60-70. I'm probably going to order one and give it a shot as a drop in replacement.

When your computer first boots is everything up the right way?

If so, errrr you may have to turn your monitor upside down to do this with any ease, but have a look in your video cards control panel. It may have been set to rotate the display by a hotkey accidently.

Just set it to be 0 degrees and apply.

Hope that helps =)
