Clean the carriage rail. This is the round chrome piece that the carriage assy that holds the cartidges rides on. Use a paper towel that is slightly moist.
Be sure to not force anything. Unplug the printer after you get the carts in the middle. Move them to one side and clean and then move them to the other and repeat

SOURCE: my dell all in one 948 printer keep sending a msg

Hello there this may work for you, it has worked for many here I given this advice so gave it a try it could work for you. Generally when this happens, something has fallen into the printer, or a piece of paper has been jammed in there.

First step, remove the ink cartridge, and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it, see if anything comes out.

If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of cardstock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there.

And gave the rode that the ink slides on a good clean and maybe a bit oil on cloth and wipe the rod with it.

Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

SOURCE: im trying to connect a dell v305 printer to a new mac

NO Dell do NOT support Macs on there printers - BUT most of Dells printers are re-branded Lexmark engines - so if you can find the equivalent lexmark - you may find a driver lexmark makes all of dells printers the v305 or v305w is a lexmark model X4650. the Mac driver is here http://support.lexmark.com/index?page=content&productCode=LEXMARK_X4650&actp=PRODUCT&id=DR9768&segment=DOWNLOAD&userlocale=EN_US&locale=en

Dell v305 printer allignment problem

Hello Michelle,

You are using Dell Series 9 ink cartridges, correct?

If you unplug the printer from the wall and remove the power brick for 60 seconds, this will reset any error messages the printer has. I would then plug everything back in.

Power on the printer.

Open the printer(with the power on) and take out the Dell Series 9 black cartridge and then reseat it. I would then take out the color Dell Series 9 ink cartridge and reseat it. Now close the printer and it will print an alignment page.

Any error messages?

black cartridge = black side(left side) color cartridge = color side(right side)
photo cartridge = black side(left side) color cartridge = color side(right side)

It's possible to get a Dell Series 9 ink cartridge with a bad sensor. I would take these back to the place of purchase for a replacement.

My printer will not print, keeps displaying ( clear carrier jam! ). How can I fix it?? Do I need to buy a new printer or is this an easy fix. I 've unplugged the printer and checked ink cartridges...

Turn the printer off and unplug it from the wall. Press and hold the power button for sixty seconds. Open the top of the printer to make the ink cartridge carrier accessible. Grab the ink cartridge carrier with your hand and slowly move it back and forth until it moves freely. Then plug the printer back in and turn it on. That should solve your issue.

I Got a dell printer and i don't know what to do and in the printer it says Clear Carrier Jam

Turn the printer on.
Lift the lid to expose the print-head mechanism.
The "carrier" is that part of the mechanism that moves the print-head across its range.
Something is physically blocking, or "jamming", that carrier.

the carrier is the part the holds and moves the ink cartridges, I would open the printer like you are going to change the ink and remove and replace the cartridges ... if the carrier does not move when you open the printer then give it a gentile nudge and see if it will move
