It sounds like there might be a software issue with the navigation mode on your device. Since you've already tried changing the SD card and it didn't fix the issue, it's possible that the problem is with the device's operating system or the navigation software itself.
Here are a few things you could try to troubleshoot the issue:
Reset the device: Try resetting the device to its default settings. This might help if the problem is caused by a setting or configuration issue. To reset the device, look for a small pinhole on the device and use a paperclip or similar object to press the reset button.
Reinstall the navigation software: If resetting the device doesn't help, try uninstalling and reinstalling the navigation software. You can do this by connecting the device to your computer and using the software that came with the device to install the software again.
Check for software updates: Make sure that you have the latest software updates installed for both the device and the navigation software. You can usually check for updates through the device's settings menu or the software itself.
Contact the manufacturer: If none of these steps work, it's possible that the device itself is faulty. Contact the manufacturer's customer support for further assistance. They may be able to provide additional troubleshooting steps or suggest a repair or replacement.
Hopefully one of these steps will help you get your navigation mode working again. Good luck!

You need to also make sure all files are in the right places. Browse the content of your navigation device:
Windows XP:
Click Start > My Computer and then double-click the removable drive of your device.
Windows 7 / Windows Vista:
Click the Windows start button > Computer and then double-click the removable drive of your device.
Mac OS X:
Double-click the desktop icon of your navigation device.
Check the following:
The map folder (e.g. Western_Europe) needs to be located in the root directory of your navigation device or memory card. This means the map folder may not be inside another folder.
Before you move the map folder we recommend that you create a manual backup.
The map folder needs to contain at least the following files
cline.dat
cname.dat
cnode.dat
faces.dat
mapinfo.dat
poi.dat
tables.dat
tmccodes.dat
traffic.dat
.meta (map v705 or higher will have/need this file)
.meta.dct (map v705 or higher will have/need this file)
.pna
If any of these files are missing restore a previously made backup or re-install your map to your device (in TomTom HOME click Add Traffic, Voices, Safety Cameras etc. > Items on my computer).

If the reset button of your device is not resetting the device and it is still on the frozen screen. Just turn to the back of the device, unlock the battery from the device and remove it. Then you allow the device rest for about 5 minutes then you fix it back in. Plug the device for about 2 hours and power it on. It should work fine after this. Be sure not to turn on too many applications on the device at the same time time, because that could result in the device being frozen again.
You can as well update the software of the device by charging it for about 2 hours, then you connect it to the computer that has its software. That will show if there are recent updates for the device, then you update the software with the latest version. that should take a little while to update. Then install your maps on it, safely disconnect the device from the computer and turn it on. That can also help you solve the problem.
Hope this was helpful. Thank you for using fixya.

OK, what you need to do, is go to the GPS Manufacturers website, download the latest software for your unit and PC. Install this as Administrator. Now connect up your GPS via the USB cable. Then turn on the GPS, then update using this software, Reboot and using it's now, updated software, download, any updates, as may be, from the website, it is all done through the GPS's internal program.
Turn off CPU, Unplug Power cable, And all usb devices, let it sit for
about 20mins. Plug it all back in. Turn on the CPU! Also make sure if
your device requires "DRIVERS" or if you have a CD download and install
that before anything.
