Color problem with Phillips 53" projection tv

Model 53up72g102 The color on the tv is really orange. We tried all of the color adjustments and came to the conclusion that it's the tube. Does anyone no where we can find a tube for this tv to order, I am electronically inclined and don't wan to waste money on a service tech.

Yes, the picture in the green and blue lens is cloudy (almost can't even tell there's a picture at all!).

This might be a stupid question, but it never hurts to ask... Can most TV Repair shops change fluid? I mean, is it just a certain type of fluid, or is it something I might have to call Phillips about?

Bet the fluid is bad. You can take the back off and look into the green and blue lens. See if the picture is clear. If cloudy the fluid is bad. Be careful when doing this. Changing the fluid should be done by a tech.

Most shops should be able to change the fluid. It's a common trouble.

the blue gun is not working properly which explains the dominance of green and yellow colors. you need to look after dry-joints on the blue gun circuit board, sometimes oil leakage from the lens may also affect the board

I have a Phillips maganavox Projection TV I believe it is model 9P6040CI and the color is dull and I believe the red is going or gone. I've tried to tune it but will not let me

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

What you will need to do is replace the coolant and clean the crt. You can get a repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com that includes replacement coolant, photos. instructions, etc.

Sounds like the red CRT is defective. But could be the red drive circuit also. If you turn the color level to zero is the picture red or black and white. If the red/orange is still there i would suggest its the red CRT. I have a source for Phillips CRTs that cost 135.00 with free shipping. If you end up needing one let me know and I will post the link.
