Question about GE Profile Spectra JGBP90 Gas Kitchen Range

1 Answer

F2 error We have a GE xl44 oven. It's about 6 years old, and has a problem with an F2 code. When the oven is off, it will start beeping and displaying F2, which apparently means that the oven is too hot (though the oven itself is off). In addition, the oven has periodic problems holding temperature. I ordered and just replaced the oven temperature sensor (per guidance from this site and others...), but when we left for the evening and got back home, we found it was beeping and displaying F2 again. We had this same problem a couple of years back, and has a repairman out. He replaced the control panel and the sensor, but it was really expensive. I'd like to avoid the expense of bringing him out here again - am I best off ordering a new control panel and is this something that I can replace myself? Thanks in advance for any and all assistance.

F2 error alarm goes off regularly when we are baking. We cut the electric circuit to stove and turn it back on in 5 minutes and it usually works but it is happening more often. Any suggestions on what the problem is?

while cleaning oven we get a F2 error and flashing "locked door" signal

F2 alarm goes off on an intermittent basis about once every two weeks when the oven is not being used. Sometimes when we get up in the morning it is going off, sometimes in the middle of the day, this thing is wacky. It takes four or five attempts to "clear" it.

I am with you on that one. Mine is doing the same thing. It also never keeps the right temperature and sounds like mini gas explosion surges when it is trying to get to the right temp. I also have a stainless steel GE micro. After just 1 year the oven door started rusting at the bottom of the inside. There is a big white patch that looks like permanent steam on the inside top door. When I wrote GE they said the warranty was gone, the oven was probably dangerous and would cost too much to repair. How is that for customer service? My dishwasher also broke after 1 year and 1 month. I replaced it with a Kenmore and it has worked beautifully for 8 years. The only GE/Hotpoint thing I have ever had that lasted was a 12 inch color television. My .

My ge xl44 gas range, installed in 2000, turns off and flashes an f2 code occasionally. Can you give me the reason?

F2 means: For an unknown reason, the oven temperature has exceeded a preset threshold.

G.E. recommends you try this:

Sometimes shutting off the circuit breaker that the range or oven is connected to for 30 seconds will clear the fault, error or function code, however there are some cases when further service may be required. If you would like to schedule a service appointment, please contact GE Consumer Service at 1-800-432-2737

I have the same problem, although my oven is 3 years old. I am having the door latch replaced today. cost $240. The repair company that I contacted sid that these ovens are their bread & butter!!! If I could afford it I would ship all of my GE appliances(which are only 3 years old mind you) to them and tell them to shove them!! I alreadt spent over $200 on my GE dishwasher which at the time was only 1 1/2 yearsd old.Did you clean the oven before the error code started flashing?laurieslovett@yahoo.com

F2 Code Problem

I can't take credit except searching and found this info.. I will order to see if it fixes my error messages..Tom

All, I hope that this helps everyone having this annoying problem. The problem is the F2 error that seems to come on everytime you use the oven. Well, it was driving my wife crazy, so I finally gave in, and had a GE technician come over to fix it. :) It cost me $190, with $80 for the part and $110 for the labor. Had I known what the problem was, I could have fixed it myself in 10 minutes, and only would have had to buy the part. My loss is your gain. The technician replaced the sensor, part #WB21X5301 (can find at (www.geappliances.com (http://www.geappliances.com)); cost is $76. If you open the oven door, the sensor is on the top left-hand side and is long and skinny. Instructions come with the part to replace it. Basically, you unplug the oven, take out two screws, and cut the two wires to the sensor. You then use wire nuts to connect the new sensor wires, and push the :) wires out of the oven area into the back panel. That's it. Problem fixed. Glad I could help out others!! Merry Christmas! JakeDecember 11th, 2005, 02:25 PMThanks for the information and update back on this problem you had.:)

You can also buy that same part#WB21X5301 from here, abit cheaper:

Ge gas oven/ranger xl44

The F2 is the code for the board seeing a temp higher than 600 degrees. It could be one of two things. The temp sensor is out of range, extreme high resistance. If you ohm it out it should read approx 1100 ohms at room temp. The other would be a welded bake relay on the board itself. Check the temp sensor first. If you are getting the F2 in the cleaning cycle, check the temp sensor, welded clean cycle contacts on the board or both contacts on the lock switch are closed at the same time. This is for the model posted JGBP90.

JGBP79 GE Spectra XL44

Yes I had the same problem on my JGBBP79. Change the lower igniter. About $75. Keep the range for a few more years and get rid of it. The next problem you'll mostly likely have is the touch pad F1 error. That stupid thing is +$300 and nothing more than a membrane touch pad attached to some glass. :-(
