Your TV may not be compatible. What is needed is a cable box, it handles all of the channels and the TV stays only on channel 3 or other input from the cable box.

For the auto scan to detect there must be channels present on the CABLE that is connected to the RF input- TUNER INPUT- of the TV.
So check with your cable operator for the channels and you can connect. however if you are using a digital box then the channels are memorised on the box as only the output of the box is connect to the video/audiop inputs of the TV. if so select line in/video 1/2.

Confirm registered channels
If OK is not pressed after selecting "Apply", the channels will not be saved.
The channel will be saved when no operation is performed for 60 seconds and
the "Manual program" menu will also exit automatically.
If you perform scanning more than twice, previously saved channels are erased.
