If you have an anti virus installed, turn off system restore and then, restart your pc but press F8 while it's booting and get into safe mode, highlight start windows in safe mode, press enter and run the antivirus programme, if you dont have one then download a free one from here

How do I get rid of a yellow brightness box that has come up in the middle of the desktop and won't move

Step 1: I would suggest you to boot in safe mode with networking and check if you face the same issue. To boot into safe mode refer to the link
provided below: a)Restart the computer. b)Start tapping the F8 key.
c)You will get advanced boot option window. d)Select the option “Safe mode with networking”
Step 2: Put the computer in clean boot and check to see if the issue still persists. Note: After troubleshooting, make sure to put the computer to normal startup. If the issue doesn’t persists when the Computer is in clean boot or while in the Safe Mode with Networking, then the issue is confirmed to be caused by a certain non- Microsoft applications.
Method 2: This issue might be caused due to viruses. I suggest that you scan your computer from Microsoft Safety Scanner, which would help us to get rid of viruses, spyware, and other malicious software.

Free antivirus program

You don't have a question here, but I will comment on AVG. I used to use AVG and have Beta Tested both AVG and AVAST. AVAST I can set up a Boot-Time Scan and with AVG I can not. Importance of a Boot-Time Scan, is getting rid of persistent viruses. There is NO, and I mean NO antivirus program that totally works under Windows. The Boot-Time Scan works under DOS and runs before windows is loaded upon your next restart. It takes longer, but it works very well. Depending on the size of your hard drive and the number of files on it, it can take as long as 2 to 2 1/2 hours. It is automatic, so walk away and when you see windows has loaded, then the Boot-Scan has finished. There is a log file that you can view to see what it found if you want to look. Once AVG let a virus into my computer, I went to AVAST and never went back, mainly because AVAST works and also the Boot Scan feature that AVAST has. Years ago, there was a DOS based virus scan that I had used on a Floppy Disc to rid computers of nasty virus attacks and infested PC's. It was proven to me that only a DOS based program can rid any virus a PC is infected with. With the free version you do not necessarily get all the help you need, but with the paid versions you will get all the Bells and Whistles. While free is alright to try, I recommend you Buy! This keeps software development going in the right direction and improvements flourishing.

I strongly recommend you read GOOGLE REDIRECT VIRUS Although the page says 'things to prevent redirect virus' it is a good free method of protecting you computer from anything. How you change your default search depends on the browser but its pretty easy to do.

Rom flash corrupt

When your computer won't boot there are several things that could be wrong. The first that is most common is a virus got on your computer and corrupted the OS. The second is the Hard Drive is failing and the third would be bad drivers or program got installed.

I would first reboot your computer and right before the Windows loading screen comes up, hit F8 every half a second until a menu comes up. The first thing on the menu to try is Boot Windows in the Last Known Good Configuration. If that doesn't work repeat the process and try booting in Safe Mode or Safe Mode with Network Connectivity. If your computer won't boot after trying each one, there is a possibility that there are hardware issues or the OS is to corrupt to start. If this is the case you will need to take it in for an IT Professional to look at. If you can get it to boot, then scan for viruses with a program called ComboFix from then make sure that you uninstall any recent programs.

Computer very slow ,won't print, forever to load pages, have corrupted files

Several things can slow down the computer: overheating, spyware, not enough RAM etc. If you know for sure you have corrupted files were they corrupted by a virus? You may need to reinstall Vista.

Is it slow when you boot up in safe mode? To boot into safe mode hit (usually) F8 while it is booting up. Let it completely boot into safe mode and then reboot again. Now is if it is behaving better.

To get rid of spyware download the free Spybot Search & Destroy from the net, run the update and then run it to dectect and get rid of the spyware. Spyware tries to send info which can slow down everything.

Overheating - does it feel hot? Is the fan running and pushing air?

If it worked fine before it is unlikely you don't have enough RAM. Windows itself needs at least 256mbs to run well without running other problems.

Again if you know files are corrupted, if they are windows files, you might need to reinstall vista.
