Question about KitchenAid KUDK01TK - Multiple Color Built-in Dishwasher

1 Answer

Kitchenaid Dishwasher KUDK01ILBS1

Six year old dishwasher began to sound different about five weeks ago. More recently, the motor has sounded like it was struggling. Now, the machine is cleaning poorly and the motor is REALLY struggling. I have opened up and cleaned out the moving parts inside the tub, including removing arms and filter covers and cleaning out residue.

Yes, you are at the point that where the wash motor needs to be replaced. There is no magic bullet to avoid doing the replacement.

My old KitchenAid KDS-16 dishwasher is making a loud, high-pitch, metallic sound but it still appears to be operating OK.

There is a fan blade on the top of the pump shaft. IT is loose. They are pressed onto the shaft. The only thing you can do is replace the motor or the whole machine.

Kitchenaid Superba dishwasher getting louder in wash cycle

The bearings in the wash motor can wear and cause the machine to get louder, They can be replaced but it depends on the age of the machine if it's worth repairing or not.

Our kitchen aid dishwasher is about 7 years old, recently it has begun making a high pitched whine while the wash cycle is running. The dishes are still clean, but the noise is new and annoying not to...

Sounds like it could be the bearing in the wash motor. If the sound is only present when you can hear water being thrown around then this would confirm it. Not sure about spares availability on a 7yr old machine though

My dishwasher runs fine but has become very noisy. is that a problem? it used to be "whisper quiet" & now it sounds like a drone

usuallly a pump motor asssembly is required.. most had a five year parts warranty and if out of warranty most assembly are 100-300 dollars for the part.

KitchenAid KUDKO3CTBLO My dishwasher is about 1

Wowsers! I did the very same thing for the very same reason....Nothing like a Kitchen Aid, best ever...highest reputation...quietest you can get, stainless steel tub....all you'd ever want in a dishwasher...RIGHT?
WELL, mine did the same thing. Started making some noise..just a little at first (but it grew!). Being handy, I took it apart, certain that there was something in there to explain it...put it back together, and convinced myself thet it was a wee bit better sounding (but it grew!). So, being handy, I went on-line and purchased a complete motor/impeller assembly and installed it. It stayed quiet for a while, maybe six months (but it grew!) I even humbled myself to call a technician out (did I mention that I was handy?) and he listened appreciatively and then shrugged his shoulders and said something like "I dunno", but that he could put in a motor/impeller kit in it..... I finally was a piece of junk, and I wouldn't have it in my house any longer. Besides, I couldn't keep throwing money at it. Sorry, but thanks for letting me vent. Anyhoo, I bought a Samsung, and I like it OK. Don't get me wrong, after the Kitchen Aid let down, I don't really trust any of 'em. I put the K/A out by the road and that was the end of it, or so I thought...a knock on the door about six weeks later, and the guy says "I picked up this dishwasher over there, it supposed to make that much noise?"
I said all that just to say this...I feel your pain. Maybe your luck will be better than mine was. You can buy a motor/impeller assembly on line for ~$220.00 I think, but I'm not too sure that it's really worth it.
Thanx, --W/D--

Load grinding noise, like the engine is working too hard.

Most likely the motor/pump assembly is worn out and grinding. If the machine is less than five years old it is under warranty. If over five years old, the repair part alone is about $150 not including labor.

Motor sounds like it is straining '

When you get a chance, please post the whole model number of your Maytag dishwasher here.
Because you are still getting clean dishes, you probably have debris (a bone or fruit pit) that has gotten down to the pump/impeller or the chopper area.
Remove the lower spray arm, remove the filter/sump assembly and clean everything out. With a flash light, inspect the whole sump area for debris. I bet you will find stuff there (beware of broken glass!) and when you re-assemble, the noise will ne normal.
Good Luck! Please post back what you find, OK?

Loud Knocking/Ticking Sound During Cycle

have you lowered the top basket into the lower position? if so the spray arm will knock the cutlery /plates. it sounds as though it is a spray arm problem. remove them and put it in wash to see if the noise goes. if not there may be an obstruction in the wash pump, this is a stripdown job then.
