I am a recently retired appliance engineer of 20 years this sounds like a door interlock problem, have you had it in bits, for some reason, it sounds like the wires have been reversed, it may be that the interlock has moved or been damaged, or has just gone faulty, check wires on the interlock are not shorting out, these can normally be sen after removing the lid, start with that and post if still having problem for reasons of safety the machine should not be left plugged in if children about work with safety, unplug when working on machine

My Dryer won't stop drying until I open the door.

If it does this in a Timed Dry setting the timer is bad. If it does this in an Auto dry setting it could be a bad moisture sensor or a bad timer.

Dryer stopped working after working w/door open or closed

Sounds as if the door switch/latch had stuck.the smell was probably a small short. try unplugging unit. But I would imagine you need door latch/switch replaced

Heats but won't dry

I'm not at all familiar with the Malber brand, but I do know that the basics any dryer needs to work are: 1. Heat 2. tumbling (so the air can reach all areas of the wet clothes) and 3. air flow, so the moist air is removed from the dryer.

The number one cause of poor or no drying is poor air flow. Check the end of the vent outside to see if you are getting a strong flow of air out when the dryer is running. I'll bet you are not. Find out why and correct. (clean out lint, reduce or better yet eliminate any flex duct, try to make vent pipe as short and straight as possible, use a dryer vent end cap which has a large opening, etc.)

Dry cycle

Try setting the washer dial to the stop setting at the end of setting number 4 then set the dryer timer and turn on the machine.  This works for mine to get the dryer to run by itself.  It should begin about 30 seconds later, when the door locks.  Hope this helps.
