Question about Sony Grand WEGA KDF-55XS955 55" Rear Projection HDTV

Same problem as this poster

All of the sudden, our TV screen went dark (but still seemed to be somewhat a dark blue screen). The TV show was audible, the sound was good, but no picture. The power/standby green light keeps flashing and I cannot change channels or get a picture. Even pressing the channel up and down button on the TV will not work, and the same channel keeps playing, but with no picture, but good sound.

I had a similar problem and it ended up being the bulb. The indicator light never lit up but after i replaced th bulb I checked to see how many hours where on the bulb and it was over 8100. they state the bulbs are only good for 6000. when i replaced it ($140 on ebay) everything was fine.

Hmmmm! I would have to say you have a problem with the signal board. I have not repaired this brand or model. This would be the first thing to investigate. It is the board that contains all your antenna and rca jacks. Good Luck and visit your TV tech with this info!

My Sharp LCD 26" TV shows most black and shadow colours as vivid blue, I have tried resetting the colour to factory reset but that didn't seem to help at all. It occurs on all channels and on 3...

the problem with LCD tvs are that they have back lamps that shine thru the LCD sceen. the job of the screen is to block the light of the different colors to make the picture. the problem is that the very thin screen can not block all the light. if the set has a back lamp setting turn down the back lamps and adjust the brightness control it should help a little. you my notice that the blacks and dark sceens look better when the room is fully lit and look much worse in a darken room.

This is an optical engine problem - it needs to be replaced - it will only get worse. Sony has had problems with the optical block and is extending the warranty for this problem. (this is a LCD projection tv - there is no convergence)
