Re: Canon PIXMA iP4000 problem

You are probably missing the bidirectional support setting in the print server...some printers simply cannot be print served and this may in fact be one.

Hello, How do I connect my Epson stylus PHOTO px700 to my laptop?

NETGEAR’s 54 Mbps Wireless Print Server with 4-port Switch allows you to connect one or two printers to your existing wireless network, without using unsightly Ethernet cables. Simply place your printers anywhere in your home or office that works best for you, plug them into the print server’s USB ports, and the Smart Wizard set-up function automatically guides you through configuration. Then you can send your business documents to a high-end color printer, and your kids’ homework to a black-and-white printer. The print server also acts as a wireless Ethernet bridge, connecting a cluster of up to four PCs and laptops without requiring dedicated wireless adapters. I t employs powerful WEP Encryption and WPA-PSK to keep your wireless network secure, and interoperates with all standard b and g wireless devices. All this in a sleek, space-saving stand-up case.

I can not print

I had a similar problem that was caused by my firewall. I was able to get it to print fine but could not get it to scan.

To test, try temporarily disabling your firewall. Bringing up SX Virtual Link then search for devices. If you can find your Canon, that's the key. Silex has instructions on how to get around some of the firewalls on their web site. I had to figure out how to get around AVGs firewall on my own. Check out

Reply to this message if it doesn't work or if you need instructions for the firewall problem.

Good luck helena!

Networking imagerunner 2200

First, plug the printer into the network with an Ethernet cable. Then, go into the configuration page on the printer's display and print a configuration page. Look for the IP address. When you have that, go to the computers that need to connect to the printer. (Note that this tutorial is for Windows XP, I am not familiar with Vista but this should give you a basic overview.) Go to Start > Printers and Faxes. Click add a printer on the left hand side of the window. Select a Local printer attached to this computer, and unselect automatically detect. On the next page, click create a new port > TCP/IP port. Type in the IP address of the printer. Then choose the driver you are going to use, you should be able to find the IR 2200 driver under canon pretty easily. If not, go to and download their drivers. Once you do this, print a test page and it should print. You are then fully configured.

Please rate, Thanks!

Print server configuration in canon mf4150

I had the same problem. After many hours of trial and error, I got two XP laptops and a Vista desktops configured. Be sure to use the latest firmware from Dlink. Disable all s/w firewalls. In my case Norton Firewall from Yahoo was a problem. The Vista PC was configured to print within 30 mins and the XPs took a while. I couldn't get the print server to appear in the My Network Places A couple of the guys who left comments on the product at Newegg actually have a good solution. The solution involves setting the printers up as local printers with standard TCP/IP ports that point to the IP address or the URL ("dlink-"6_last_digits_of_MAC_ID) and USB port number 9100-9103. You can google how to set up local printers w/ TCP/IP connections with USB ports on the internet. Note the Scanner will not be recognized but at least you can print on MF4150.

Installation assistant cannot detect print server

Results of attempting to connect the Netgear Wireless Print Server WGPS606 and the Canon MF6550 multifunction laser printer. I was on the phone for several hours last evening (March 9, until about midnight EDT) with a very competent support agent from Netgear (actually in the Philippines). The Netgear setup Wizard software would not connect the Print Server to my Verizon FiOS wireless G router automatically, so the Netgear support agent walked me through it manually. The Print Server connected that way, for sure. Then we manually attempted to connect the Print Server to my Canon MF6550 and subsequently, my HP 932C Deskjet. Neither printer is on the WGPS606 compatible list, nor is either on the known incompatible list. Now we know - both printers are INCOMPATIBLE with the Netgear WGPS606. I bought both the Netgear Print Server and the Canon MF6550 at Staples on Sat., March 8, 2008, based upon the assurance from Staples staff that it would all work. The question now is whether ANY brand of wireless Print Server will work with the Canon MF6550, or do I have to return this printer and get either a Canon with built in networking (ethernet or wireless) or switch to the Brother equivalent (MFC 8870DW). If I get a (multi-function) printer with built-in Ethernet networking, does the Ethernet capability bypass the USB incompatibility problem, or will the problem remain?

Canon Pixma MP530 multifunction printer comes up as a fax

This is absolutely the right solution. I used this for my Canon MP780 printer under Vista, as well. I want to include all of the keywords here. It is important to note that the DPR-1260 shipped with Firmware Version 1.12 cannot be seen by Visa until it is upgraded with the Version 1.21 firmware, but after downgrading back to the Version 1.12 firmware, the DPR-1260 is still visible and it now recognizes my Canon MP780 multifunction printer as a printer and not as a fax machine. I plan to post this same solution to other sites, so that hopefully others can get their DPRs working again. Whew!
