DVD does not play on my laptop.

After I have installed a DVD into DVD/CD RW,the yellow light keeps on flashing & the DVD does not play at all.

to narrow down the problem list, open windows explorer and look for the drive letter for the DVD. Then right mouse click it and select EXPLORE. If nothing there and other DVD discs tried with same results, then a possible DVD hardware failure. This can happen even though a CD will exhibit no problems.
