Connecting Camcorder to computer

I have a panasonic vdr d-220, it looks like I need a firewire but cannot figure out where it would go and what size of the firewire I would need. My computer shows I have a port,. The camera has a usb port and a AV port . Any ideas manual does give specifics on this Thanks

-   I also have a Panasonic VDR-R220, and am trying to download the video from the mini DVD to my computer to edit the video. Same issue as the previous person.-   Runner1

I have sony CCD-TRV228E handycam. it didnt have any USB port
how can i connect it to computer
