E drive does not respond when a dvd is inserted

dvds do not play in drive,,drive does not respond when i insert any kind of disc

- thanx for advice, but i now know e drive is not working & ive added external dvd drive for a fraction of the cost of repair!

Go to "My Computer" and select the CDROM drive. Then right click to get properties and see if the Auto-Play is enabled.
