Question about LG RU-52SZ51D 52" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

Picture and Sound fade in an out

My TV is probably 4 years old and has never had a problem til now, we recently moved house and it is possibly as a result of shifting the TV, but when I turn it on the picture and sound come on for about 2 seconds, then fade out for 2 seconds, then come back. The TV will continue this for as long as the TV is switched on. Trouble is that for anyone to repair it they have to come and get the TV and assess it at the store, because I am unable to move it. Just an assessment is going to cost me $400, plus parts to repair it. If someone knows what could be causing it I will have a go at repairing it myself. Thanks.

4 years? Sounds like the lamp compartment is overheating. Take the covers off the right side (To Access the lamp) and the whole panel on back. This will give you access to the lamp assembly and fans. Get a can compressed air and blow everything out. Try to blow everything towards the right side and pull the lamp and do it seperatly.

I have a sony Vega 55" kdf-e55a20, It is 3 years old, and now the picture and sound fade away for 10-15 sec every hour or so and comes back! Anyone knows what the problem is?

Lamp is getting weak and TV shuts off and turns on itself because of weak lamp in TV that you see picture and sound fades away for some time until TV reboots.
Replace lamp in TV to solve this issue. Lamp replacement procedure is written in user manual and its an easy work.
Please buy Sony original lamp for your Tv safety.

We were watching our 42" widescreen TV (about 4 years old) and it suddenly popped and the screen faded to where we can barely see the picture. Can it be fixed or new TV?

The internal capacitors are blown out. About $250 repair. Or you can get service manual, soldering iron, VOM meter. and try and repair it yourself. Probably about $50-$100 in parts

Model 35 gt695 no pic or sound .went to move tv to clean and seen a flash on top right of screen.worked fine after that .in the morning came on fine for 10 minutes then heard a pop and it went off.light...

Most likely the high voltage transformer took a dive. If the picture was still good before it went out it is probably worth a check out fee. Another possibility is that there was a loose solder joint developing and moving the set around helped the loose joint come completely undone. Thanks

17 yr. old 35" RCA loses color intermittently. Picture & sound ok

Three guns Red Blue and Green in the picture tube of an old CRT set. If one of the guns goes out it effects that color. Sounds like one of the guns inside of the tube is going out, To costly to replace for such an old antilog set that will have to have a convertor box next month anyway.

TV Turns self off- 4 blinks on standby light

Yes, the blinks are error codes. I would not bother trying to figure out what they mean, I can tell you right now. Expensive repair. Average repair costs are 1/4 to 1/2 of the TV's current worth. Most likely a bad transistor. The average expected life span of a TV set is 3-5 years. After that, stuff starts wearing out fast. Time to move on.

Vertical output problem

you probably just need to resolder the vertical output IC. It will be mounted on a heat sinc. probably 7-10 pins. Part number may start with "LA" like LA7845 or similar, there are others though. You will probably see the rings around the solder joints on the bottom of the board. Good Luck

Faded Picture

I would have to say it does sound like the CRT is reaching its end. The thing that points this out that the picture gradually gets a little bit better as it warms up. It most likely isn't worth the cost to fix it.
