The oven temperature may be too high. Get an oven thermometer and set it in the center of your oven and check to see if the temperature on your oven matches it. Many ovens run 25 degrees or more off of the set temperature. My mother's oven used to need to be set at 325 if she wanted it to bake at 350.

If the cookies are black on the bottom, but doughy in the centers, this may also be a case where the oven temperature is too high.
Another problem may be that you are baking them too long. Cookie baking is a precise thing. It may seem duh-obvious, but be sure you use a timer, lol. If the recipe calls for 10 minutes, and they are always burned, start checking them at 8 minutes.

If you are substituting honey for the sugar in the recipe, remember to lower the oven temperature by 25 degrees and decrease the liquids by a small amount to compensate. Honey browns/burns much faster than sugar.

Hope these suggestions help. =)

Why does our GE jt910 oven not heat consistently when baking cookies. the first batch is ok but second batch is always over done?

Buy a small oven thermometer and check the temperature of the heating oven over time. It may not explain it, but you can better adjust the dialed temperature to match the desired temperature.

Burnt food in my microwave and now it's dead.

The magnetron has more than likely failed, "heart of the system" the fact it burned the cookies in 15 seconds is a concern, suggesting magnetron was burning out.

I bought the waffle iron at a church thrift shop and there wasn't a manual or recipes

Hello Anyduckfood,

I understand that you purchased a Waffle Iron at a church thrift shop you did not receive the directions or any type of recipes for the unit.

Most waffle irons are set up to cook a waffle in one minute. They take a few minutes to heat up like about 5 and then you may cook with them. You generally use a nonstick spray (pan, etc) then put your batter on the lower griddle and close the upper griddle. The batter will expand to the upper griddle and make the shape of your waffle iron.

Recipes: there are many different places that you can find waffle recipes, here are a few links to recipes
http://allrecipes.com/Recipes/Breakfast-and-Brunch/Waffles/Main.aspx
http://www.waffle-recipe.com/
http://www.mrbreakfast.com/recipe_collection.asp?subcategoryid=5
to find more waffle recipes just type "Waffle Recipes" in a search engine of your choice and you will probable by amazed at how many different recipes there are.

Where do I place the oven racks when baking cookies??

Hi,
If the oven fan forced I would bake them on the middle or top shelf, if it isn't I would use the middle shelf as the higher you put them the hotter it is and the quicker they can burn?

Hope this helps,

Cheers,

Can i bake cookies on my sharp carousel with bake setting. can i use an ordinary micro safe plate or do I need something else?

yes you can bake cookies in the carousel on BAKE I suggest those new rubber looking bake plates help a lot to reduce the moisture that makes them soft.

I think they are silicone rather than rubber, i am sure you know the ones I mean
