Most washer weight about 150 to 200 pds.. if you clothes are coming out dry out of the final spin cycle theres nothing wrong...there is always a little water that stays in the washer maybe a gallon or so...

How do I drain the water out of the machine to prepare it for moving?

Is it a washing machine or a dryer?

Dryers are usually not heavy from water.
If it is a condenser type of dryer the water collector can be removed.

If the washing machine has completely finished its last wash, there should not be much water left.
Washing machines are usually heavy because they have a concrete stabilizer block mounted on top of the drum cage.

Kenmore Series 80 top loading washer that doesn't spin or agitate

Unplug machine, remove water pump and motor, behind the motor is a coupler, take broken parts to your local appliance parts store. Costs 16 bucks, replace the broken parts with new ones, reassemble machine. Never ever do a blanket/comforter in your machine again!!

Washing machine very loud and machine moves during spin cycle

Normal these mean unbalance load of clothes. Try to balance it with heavy clothes opposite each other. The fabric that hold more water tend to be heavier during the spin cycle. Also try not to overload the machine by washing clothes just half to 3 quarters full
