Hyundai HD4200 working ok until the wife started turning it off and on quickly. now its stuck in standby mode (red light) All my connections are ok Help!... [email protected]

Hello,

The issue you describe is consistent with a power supply board issue. This is the board where the AC goes to. This problem may have occurred as a result of irregular power supply, or excess power supply or power surge.

The TV is receiving current but cannot circulate or transfer the current to other necessary part of the TV because of the defective power supply board. You might be lucky it's just a blow fuse. Also a defective transformer can cause your TV not to power on.

All these can be checked on the power supply board.

But more often bad capacitors causes problem on the power supply board. I do not think the power board needs replacement, rather those defective capacitors is causing this issue. Open unit up and take a look at the power supply board. You will probably see one or more electrolytic filter capacitors that are bulged up in the top-not perfectly flat like the others.

The value of these capacitors will be different, most likely they will be somewhere around-820 to 2200uF/25 V( or /10V sometimes)

You can replace them with same values but I would recommend the voltage rating to be higher(like 35V for an original 25V) for reliability purposes.

What happens is,these bulged top capacitors will cause a low and unfiltered DC voltage=main board will malfunction(the relay will keep clicking until the caps are holding enough charge to bring the voltage up over a threshold point).

You can buy these capacitors at any Fry's or Radioshack store or you can order them online at vendors like "mcmelectronics.com"(look for electrolytic capacitors). After replacing these capacitor(capacitors) most likely the normal operation will be restored. Or you can by a refurbished complete power board to save you some stress.

Note: There may be also some other causes for this symptom ,like a defective T con board ,or main board, but the bulged top capacitors are the most common cause for this issue.

If you don't know about TV repairers, take the TV to the nearest repairman to fix the fault for you. Also, note that TV stores a lot of current, so wait a while before opening the TV back cover.

I hope this helps.

VIZIOP42HDTV10A . It hadn't picture mean black screen , but hear sound from every channel and all another devices input

hi, Your tv has problem with its back light inverter stage. All LCD TV have back light to illuminate the pixels. There are two types of back lighting CCFL(Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp) and LED. In your tv its ccfl. As it is ccfl it need a high voltage above 1000v. To provide such a high voltage there will be an inverter stage in all lcd tv with ccfl back lighting. Normally in LCD tvs there will be three boards such as Mother board , Back light inverter board, and power supply. In your tv the ccfl back light inverter stage is faulty. There will in inverter transformers in the inverter board. As it is high voltage transformer there is possibility of its winding get shorted. If so it will drain a high current from the power supply and the protection circuit will shut down the voltage to the inverter board. check the inverter board first. Also there is possibility of bad electrolytic capacitors in the inverter board will lead to this type of problem. First of all check the supply voltage from the power supply to the inverter board. Change the electrolytic capacitors in the inverter board and in the power supply stage. If the problem is not rectified then you have to replace the inverter board. ok

The display is dark

The problem is on the backlight of your monitor (a cold cathode lamp) this needs to be replace you can reach the cathode lamp by disassembling back of your screen/monitor. The lamp is place at the top and bottom of the screen be very careful when doing this. Replacement is available online at shopjimmy.com.

Sometimes the problem is on the inverter board. The inverter board is the one supplying a current to the lamp the input voltage of the inverter board is 24V so you have to check the input voltage from the power supply to the inverter board.

A poor solder from the terminal post of the power supply to the inverter board will also cause the problem. Resolder them.

Reminder..always unplug the tv before working on it..

Goodluck!

A four thumbs up is much appreciated for answering your free question.

I have a Samsung LN46C630 that got fried through an HDMI cable. Replaced the main board because of visible burn spots near the HDMI connection and in another spot near a heat sink. TV came on fine and was...

I would replace the power supply as they are not too expensive.
New M/board, should be OK. Have you checked the RAM for errors and installed the latest BIOS firmware?

Where is the fuse inside the power supply model fsp200

The unit is only 200watt and the fuse cost about $2,Thats if there one built into it,
The replacement power supply is about $20-00 NZD
Probably 20minutes to fix (for a novice) depending on their skill level and tools available,

BEST ADVICE Replace it

Power is something you dont want to mess with because it can kill.
The power packs are replaceable but people arent.
Be very careful and dont mess with the power.

Black screen but get sound. picture flashes every

This sounds like a power supply issue. TVs operate on DC current and therefore must have a power supply board to invert AC house current to DC as well as regulate the DC current supplied. Heat is created by this process and therefore certain components on power supply boards are prone to failure due to repeated overheating. I would suspect capacitors on the power supply board are failing so they are only able to store enough power to allow the video board to work every 30 seconds and then it shuts off again. You can replace the whole board but I have repaired these before for a few dollars and some soldering.

that power supply is a switch mode power supply, which means it looks for an input signal to turn on.
that signal comes from the main pc board.
if there is excessive current draw,it will shut down.
check the input, and the screen circuit it is driving
