Question about Kenmore Oasis HE 27082 Top Load Washer

Getting LF code - has worked fine for a year

Just got done with warranty last week. Now getting LF code a little ways into the cycle on every cycle I have tried. Manual says that means it is "Taking too long to fill", and to check the hoses (I have taken both off and they are clear - the taps are also both fine), and also check to see if the water inlet valve screens are clear (I assume those are the thin metal screens at the entrance of the inlet valves of the machine). One of the screens was loose so I pulled it out, the other seems secure. Behind the screen that I took out seems to be a solid black plastic piece with a small white plastic piece in the center that seems to have a small hole in it. It seems like it is supposed to be there, but it's hard to figure out at first glance how water is supposed to get in there past the black plastic. Does anyone have any solutions?

    Thanks, Jim. You are awesome! I probably had a foot and a half in there. I could hear it gurgle when I pulled it out. Thank you for saving me an expensive (and embarrassing) service call! My wife wanted me to just give in and call Sears. I greatly appreciate it.

    I'm having same problem with same machine. I just found your blog - haven't gone home yet to see if this is the issue or not but I had no problems with the hoses when I looked either. Of interest, this problem happened to us on the sixth month of ownership. After hassling by my wife, I called Sears to get a service appointment yesterday. After one disconnection when they were transferring me from one person to another, and after one person who couldn't speak sufficient English to understand what my problem was, I actually spoke to someone to get an appointment - I called on 11/20 and the "first available appointment" (in Akron Ohio) was 11/29. I though that I was going to be axe-murdered by all family members when that info was given to them (that is, no wash could be done for 9 days!). I called the "National Customer Hotline" and they confirmed that there was no earlier appointment for the machine to be even examined. Then I found your blog. If this saves me that 9-day-away service call, Jimster will be my god forever! Thanks! bugkicker

    Having the same issue with the "LF" error code. I've cleaned teh screens adn hoses. still get the error code.

May sound funny, but be sure that you only have about six inches of drain hose going into the stand pipe (house line). If you have more than that, the excess line will cause siphoning, and it wont fill right. Check that out, maybe it will help you out. Good Luck!!! Jim

I have had some success with this problem by running an empty load of rinse, drain, and spin. This for some reason seems to clear the error message.

LF is a long fill code. So it is taking a long time for the washer to get water. Is this happening on the cold or hot water temp selection? Does the water seem to be filling OK? If not check your hoses for clogs or kinks. Then check the water valve screens for clogs. If no clogs are detected and the water is running in the machine slowly and out of the hose (when disconnected from the machine) regularly then you have a water valve problem.

Washing machine displays an LF error code. Started last week during whitest whites cycle in rinse. I cancelled and just did rinse to finish my load. All other cycles worked and yesterday all started...


LF = Long Fill

LF flashes when the water level does not change for a period of time after the valves are turned on OR water has disengaged the basket but control does not detect a water level change.
Is water supply connected and turned on?
Are hose screens plugged?
Is water entering the tub? If so check pressure hose connection to machine/motor control.

Maytag Bravos top load gives LF code..not working ... any idea?


Have same problem. Service tech said LF code is caused by low water pressure coming into machine. Tech verified water flow looked fine, getting new controller installed tomorrow.

I had the same problem. I pulled the drain hose out and it made a strange gulping noise, as if it was plugged up. Now it works fine. I think LF stands for low flow. Maybe your drain isn't working right.

Died and will NOT start.


I experienced a similar problem with mine and I replace the little plastic tube that is immersed into the fuel. It had some stuff in it and preventing fuel from getting to the engine. It was only about 1.50 to replace.

Refrigerator and freezer not getting cold enough


If the problem just gradually started happening, it's possibly the defrost cycle that's not working right. Fridge doesn't defrost, the cooling system ices up, and the cold air can no longer travel through the fridge.

You can tell that's the problem if you fully defrost the fridge (turn it off for a day), then start it up again. If it works OK for a while, then does the same thing after a few weeks that's what it is. Either way, you need a repair person to fix it, or you need to defrost it regularly, but then what do you do with your food while you do that???
