Lenovo 3000 g400wireless led not glowingdriver okwlan card ok, checked with other laptop working,is anything in motherboard i need to check??

Test your laptop using an external USB WiFi adapter. I prefer to use nano (very small) Edimax WiFi adapter. It cost less than $15 and it has Windows XP/Vista/7 drivers; also it has its own apps, so you can check the signal strength and quality.

Am using in my laptop linux os, but its not showing wifi connection in my home,

Linux does not usually play nice with wireless routers, it can take up to four to five reboots to access the router. A trick that I usually do to connect to the router is to join an unlisted network, and use your router's name as the unidentified network name. That sometimes works for me.

I hope this helps!

Connecting an adapter to laptop running linux

Yes/No. Dlink has no support for Linux. Ubuntu should install generic drivers but it may work or just epic fail.

You may have a conflict with the hardware. I have had installations fail because of this. You may want to use the Ubuntu live CD to boot into Ubuntu. If this works out for you, you should be able to install.

If you cannot boot into Ubuntu using the live CD, try booting into the CD using some special boot prompts. See this How To:

I find nolapic noapci noapic did the trick for me on my HP.

Wi-Fi drivers for Acer Aspire 4710Z for linux

The drivers for Windows can be used if no specific Linux drivers exist. There's a program within Linux called NDisWrapper which is designed to use the drivers provided for Windows XP in Linux. Refer to your particular distribution of Linux for the details on how to set up NDisWrapper from within your distribution (I've only done it in Ubuntu so have no experience of other distros)

WIFi Connection

change channels to 1-6-or 11

check is to make sure you are NOT using "IEEE 802.1x authentication for this network."

You can find at setting under "Wireless Network Connection1.gif Properties" and then under "Authentication" tab of your network properties.

This particular authentication method is periodically logging you off the network and re-authenticating.

Check the adapter in device manager to make sure that windows is not shutting the adapter down to save power.

Cordless phones1.gif and wireless ethernet cards use overlapping frequencies. As a test, you can unplug the AC cords from all the cordless phones in the area and see if it helps.
