Yes
buy an external hard drive enclosure from eBay and install the HD in the enclosure to read the data on the hard drive.

I have a Sony VAIO GRZ610, old i know. Won't power up,

If you cannot get the laptop working then try this method.
Remove the hard drive and connect it to an USB hard drive adapter and then plug this adapter into a working computer's USB port. If this computer sees this as an USB mass storage device (external hard drive) and you can open the various folders and files, then you can backup and or transfer your data to another computer. If yiu install the hard drive in an USB hard drive case then you can use this hard drive as an external USB hard drive.

Hello, i have sony vaio VPCEB46FG laptop & i have

Hi,

You're getting what's known as the 'blue screen of death' as some may call it.
This happens for various reasons, but usually occurs when Windows encounters a conflict with a hardware component in your laptop. When you try to install XP, are you doing so as a secondary operating system (dual OS boot) or are you trying to install it over Windows 7?
If you are installing XP over Windows 7, try doing a full format during setup instead of the usual quick setup. This may take some time, possibly requiring you to format the hard drive overnight but it may well solve any 'blue screen' issues you're experiencing.

Let me know if I can assist any further.

Best wishes,

MY HITACHI 1 TB HARD DRIVE IS NOT BEEN RECOGNIZED BY MY SONY LAPTOP. IT WAS WORKING WELL 2 WEEKS AGO , HOWEVER TODAY I UNPLUGGED THE HARD DRIVE DURIN TRANSFER SOME FILES. UNTIL THAT MY COMPUTER STOP...

hello, if the hdd is not being recognize by your Sony laptop, may be because the device is not responding any more, anyway this is still new you can have that Hitachi replace via the warranty, but your not suppose to tell them what happen cause that would fall for intentional damage. Just tell them it stop working. Thank you for using Fixya

Hi, When I switch my laptop (Sony Vaio, Model: PCG-7Q1M) on. I receive an message stating, "Operating System not found". The laptop was dropped a few days ago. The laptop attempts to read from...

Hi.
Based on the information you have provided, it seems that the issue might be due to the Hard Drive.
As you have mentioned that the Notebook was dropped, this might have caused a Physical damage to the Hard Drive.
Hence, the Computer might not be detecting the Hard Drive.
As the issue might be Hardware related, it would be better to get the Unit examined at the Sony Authorized Service Center.
Before sending the Unit to the Service Center, you may try resetting the BIOS to its default values.
Performing the BIOS reset should resolve the issue.
If the issue still persists even after performing the BIOS reset, then you may get the examined at the Sony Service Center.
You may initiate the Service by filling the required details in the below link:

Hope this helps.

It doesn't start or show the window program. when I tried to reboot it says there is no hard driver on this laptop. thank you for any informations.

The system is not recognizing your hard drive- Here's how you can see if you need to call Sony/Geeksquad. Check if you have any USB drives in your system- if so, remove them. Try rebooting. If that works- the issue was your system was trying to boot off of the thumb drive. If it doesn't work- try and see if there is a drive sticking out from your laptop- usually on the right side, and towards the bottom- slide it in if so. If not- your hard drive may have failed, or the motherboard controller for your hard drive has failed. Contact the people that have your system in warranty- if it is not in warranty, you can purchase a replacement drive to see if the issue was just the drive itself. Unfortunately, if it is the motherboard, and you are out of warranty- you may rather purchase a new laptop. Laptop motherboard replacements generally run in the 300+ range- I've known Dell to charge 500-900 for their out of warranty repairs.

Clicking sound from the hard drive near the cd

A clicking hard drive is a dying hard drive. Stop using it immediately. Replace it, then use a SATA to USB or IDE to USB adapter to try to copy off any data you might have that is still salvageable. The more you try to use it, the less chance you have of recovering information.

When my hard drive is in the xbox it will go to a sceen reading contact custermer suport and there will be 1 red lite in the 4 secton and will also read E 69

E69: Hard Drive Error - It could be a problem with the Hard Drive itself or a problem with the internal connection to the hard drive, Try removing the hard drive and playing without it. If that fixes the problem, then you need to buy a new hard drive. http://www.llamma.com/xbox360/repair/Xbo...
