Re: cd rom will not display on monitor

It seems like you may just have a display option you need to configure. In the Finder's preferences you can choose which types of volumes to show in finder's sidebar (ie. Removable Media, Removable HDs, etc.). If you can find the CD-ROM in Finder at all, you simply need to Right-click and choose "Get Information" from there you can set preferences for that type of media ( you can do this for ALL file types on osx including HDs, Media files etc.)

Re: cd rom will not display on monitor

U must set jumper on you'r HDD and CD-ROM, so you have primary and slave IDE controlet, remove HDD and CD-ROM and set HDD jumper master and CD-ROM jumper on slave. If is posilbe use two IDE cables one for HDD and one for CD-ROM. Have luck.

How do eject disc from my mac os x

Every Mac that has an optical drive has an eject key on the keyboard. Pressing the eject key will eject a CD or DVD.

The eject key has this icon on it: ?

You can also right-click on the disk icon, then choose "Eject" from the pop-up menu.

You can also click once on the disk icon, then choose "Eject" from the File menu.

You can also drag the icon to the Trash icon in the dock.

The eject key will only eject CDs and DVDs, but all of the other methods described above will also unmount other media types, like a hard drive or flash drive connected via USB, FireWire, or Thunderbolt.

I have inserted a DVD-RW and nothing happens. I have to format it in order to use it in a Panasonic DMR-EH59. No clue how to do it. It's not showing on my computer.

If it doesn't show up on the desktop, open disk utility (applications > utilities). You should see an icon that looks like a CD on the left. Click on it and you should see a screen like below. Click on erase and it will format it. Be careful you don't accidentally erase any other drive.

  1. Close all software applications that are open on your computer (including anti-virus software).
  2. Place the EasyShare software CD into the CD-ROM drive.
  3. Load the software:
    Windows OS
if the install window does not appear, choose Run from the Start menu and type d:\setup.exe where d is the drive letter that contains the CD.
    Mac OS X
double-click the CD icon on the desktop, then click the Install icon.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the software.
  5. If prompted, restart the computer. If you turned off anti-virus software, turn it back on. See the anti-virus software manual for details.

The screen/desk top of my Mac 10 has now 5 lines from top to bottom starting with one and increasing to 5 over several weeks. 2 lines n one side , one in the middle and two more an inch apart on right...

· If I understand the issue, it sounds like the monitor screen is going out.

· But there are a couple of things to try since being close to a high voltage source or incorrect Resolution setting could cause something close to that.

· Let us start with the Display resolution since it is the easiest.

· Hold down on the Apple in the upper left-hand corner of your screen.

· 1. Select System Preferences

· 2. Click on the Displays icon

· 3. In the box under Resolutions make sure a resolution selected has 60 Hz if you are running a Flat Screen (LCD) Monitor.

· If that is not the issue, try moving the Mac to a different location. (Next room)

· If that does not work, try booting the machine for the install disk, if it looks fine when running from the disk you could have a corrupt driver. In that case reinstalling the OS should fix it.

· Ok none of that works: Take the machine to your local Apple store for the Genius to look at. He should be able to tell by looking at it what is up.

· Best of luck.

How do I find out what my CPU usage is on my MAC laptop

hi dv4242

Here is how to do it :
  1. First open the Activity Monitor
  2. Right Click (or click and hold, or CTRL click) on the Activity Monitor icon in the dock and select ‘Keep in Dock’ (if it’s not already there)
  3. Right click on the Activity Monitor icon again and select the ‘dock icons’ menu
  4. From the ‘dock icons’ menu select the ‘Show CPU Usage’ item
  5. There you have it, a nice little visual representation of your CPU usage, it is even separated by cores (if applicable)
Hope that helps

Mac OS X (Native Mode)
  1. Turn the computer on. Log in as the first created administrator account to install the software. You cannot install the software when logged in using added administrator accounts.
  2. Place the CanoScan Setup Utility CD-ROM in the drive.
  3. Double-click the CD-ROM icon.
  4. Double-click the MacOS X folder/icon.
  5. Note: Some versions of the CanoScan Setup CD-ROM will not include the Mac OS X version of Toolbox. If this is the case, you should download and install Toolbox from Canon's website.
If you will not be installing Toolbox at this time, skip to step 7.

    Double-click the CanoScan Toolbox folder/icon.
  6. Double-click the CanoScan Toolbox Installer icon. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation.
  7. Once the installation of Toolbox is complete, you should then access the ScanGear CS folder also located in the MacOS X folder.
  8. From the ScanGear CS folder, click the ScanGear CS Installer icon. The installer will search for available install locations for the scanner plug-in driver. Follow the on-screen message prompts to complete the installation.

Problem in reinstallins operating system

This can be started by changing the boot order of your system.
To do so, start up the laptop from a shutdown stance.
This part requires some speed, it will either require the "F2", or "F10" in most cases. IIts not 100% guarantee that this will be the two buttons required for activation of your bios.
When you enter the bios, try to find the boot settings. And make sure your cd-rom is selected as the primary boot device.
After you change the cd-rom as the primary device, Save and Exit from the bios and your computer will automatically restart.
Make sure the O.S. (Operating System) CD is in the CD-ROM and it should automatically boot from the cd-rom, it may come up with options, your options should await you when or if the auto boot from cd works.
Hope this helps.
