I was given a computer with a homemade tower... I need to factory reset it but don't know how??

Basically you need the Windows installation CD plus the product installation code. Boot up with the Windows installation CD to install Windows on the hard disk, follow the on screen instructions - delete the existing Windows partition, create a new partition and format the new partition (full NTFS format - not a quick format) and continue with the installation.
Next you need to install the motherboard device drivers, you can download them from the motherboard manufacturer's WEB site from a computer with internet access. Copy these drivers onto an USB memory stick and insert this memory stick into you PC tower and install these drivers.
After installing these drivers you can now connect to the Internet to activate your Windows, You can activate Windows over the phone.

Hi, Sir i am using Mother board P5SD2- VM...and in my Pc i am using Windows 7 but in my PC screen resolution is not changing... plz tell me how to change as in screen resolution only 2 options are...

hello csvaibhav22, have u already install the VGA driver? maybe u need to check if your VGA is right installed or not at device manager.
go to start menu then type devmgmt.msc at search box, u will get the link then click it. after device manager window is open then check the display driver. if there is mark (question or exclamation mark) then u need to install the driver. u can find the driver at motherboard CD.
1. insert motherboard CD to CD/DVD drive 2. on device manager window, right click display the mark then choose update driver. 3. when installation window open, then follow the guide (if u don't want to get confuse, then just click next till it finish the installation). your driver will automatically installed.
hope this useful, regards.

No sound after format

More than likely you need the audio drivers.

Try performing a Windows Update, more often than not windows will auto detect the correct drivers and give you the option to install ;)

Problem with PC bios not booting

If you are Windows XP bootable CD with u,

first u restart ur computer and change the boot priority in the BIOS setup . Then insert the bootable cd and restart computer.

When some message comes in the screen, regarding bootable cd, press any key for installation,

It will take some time to copy installation files, then configure computer hard disk.

Then u have to agree the continuation of installation by pressing F8.
It will ask u either to repair or install Windows
press appropriate keys for that.
It will show the disk partitions and lets u with options of creating ,deleting paritions .
if u want a partition, then select any large partition and press C and type the amount of memory(in MegaBytes) u want for the partition
After finishing creating partitions,
select any partition and press enter for Windows installation in that partition. and select "format and install" option . It will format that partition and restarts . there is nothing to do more .
After restarting , it takes about 40min to install(times inversly proportional to the processor configuration), it asks for the serial /product key fo ur windows bootable cd, and some general settings about time, time zone, username, passwords etc.
After that , Windows would get completely installed.
Then insert ur motherboard CD for installing driver for (audio, graphics,LAN etc)

Then ur system is ready with Windows.
Ask me if u have any difficulty while installing...

you need to reinstall the drivers there are many ways to do this here are the easy 2
1.) you main board came with a driver cd, insert the cd, install the drivers then restart
2.) if you cant find the cd, download a program like driver magician www.drivermagician.com and install that program, it can detect and install your drivers for you automatically.

are that restart

verify that you have the correct device selected
1.) click start, all programs, windows media player
2.) click tools , options, devices
3.) click refresh and select the propper device ( speakers e.g)
4.) you can try different ones until you get one that works

If all the above fails you many need to reformat your computer, backup everything before attempting to do this,

1.) boot from a windows XP CD or insert in in the compuer
2.) follow the onscreen instructions to install it
3.) reinstall all drivers using any of the above described methods
4.) reinstall all your software

NB> FORMATTING WILL DESTROY ALL DATA ON YOUR SYSTEM
