My tv won't turn on until you repeadtedly press the on button. At fist it took two or thee time of pushing the on button, but now it takes five to ten minutes to get the green light to stay on turning on the tv.

I have a Philips Magnavox that will not work. I changed the batteries; I still get the red light appearing when I press buttons on the remote control. What shall I do? I would appreciate your suggestions to resolve this problem.

    Thank you, [email protected]

I have the same problem, worked fine eralier this morning and went I turned it back on around lunch time It appeared to have no power.

Could not get it going on the side panel or by using the remote. The outlet were the TV is plugged in works fine. I call the 1800 number for technical support but there was nothing they could do, gave me the number of a contact person in the area.

All of these flat panels TVs with power problems should be sold to customers at there own risk. due to my understanding through akai's web site there is no fix. That is also no fault of ours. thanks akai for thinking of your customer first. Now they're are customers who are not in a rush to spend there money with Akai again.  Let's say $.700.00 x 10000 customers= 7 mllions unsatisfied customers. Somebody not getting ah bonus huh!

LCDMAN2000, Do you by chance know the part # or something to order from megmeet?

  • Anonymous Jul 01, 2008

My problem started a month ago but at first the TV just wouldn't turn back on with the remote. i could turn the power button on the back of the TV off and then on and then the remote would work but eventually it started taking multiple tries to of turning the back power button off and on then using the remote. I finally got tired of that and just stopped turning the TV off and instead would only turn the cable box off. Just got back from vacation and the house-sitter turned the TV off via the power button on back of panel and now it won't come on at all. This is ********. Someone needs to know how to fix this.

This tv was not even a year old and it will not power up.

Since I purchased the extended warranty we had techs out twice.

Neither one could fix it. So I got my money back, part of it.

Could it possibly be the power supply or the starter switch?

At first I could not turn the tv back on with the remote unless I punched to power button on it several times. Then after a few weeks, it got worse and when I did manage to get the tv running, it would shut down after about two or three hours and I had to wait for an hour or so before I could get it back on. I tried a new outlet, new electrical strip and replaced batteries in the romote. All to no avail. Anyone got any service manuals or suggestions? Anything would be helpful. [email protected]

Same problem, try to turn it on & it shuts down. I tricked it by unpluging & then pluging it back in, then using the remote, worked for a short time

  • DavidwnoTV Mar 05, 2009

I turned on the TV with the remote and after a few seconds it went off.  I have been unable to get it working again after unplugging to reset a dozen times.   The red standby light will react to the start instruction but then goes red again.   The TV is about 3 years old.

  • silvntania Apr 08, 2009

My TV would not turn on. The red power indicator light is flashing and never turns green. I tried to power it using power switch and remote control. Nothing works. I sent email to Akai support. Let's see if I get any reply. This is my last Akai product purchased - that's for sure :(

I have a AKAI, mod.LCT3201AD, that would not come on ,side buttons or by the remote. The green lite would flash on then off.
I had repaired a Poloroid flat screen for my daughter, and the same problem and the same repair fixed the no turn on problem.
Now thru experence of 2 simular power supply units in the rear of the screen, I have found that in 2 cases that filter caps of 16 volt rating have swelled uo on top end and checked open or low capacitence and/or shorted. They appear to be under rated, voltage wise for the power supply.
On the Poloroid flat screen and the AKAI flat screen, repacing the 16 volt rated caps with 35 volt rated caps fixed both flat screen sets. The Poloroid set was repaired 6 months ago and still running. The AKAI was repaired yesterday and has normal pic and sound and remote operation.

Maybe this will help someone on this cheep made Chinese junk.
Thanks, RKRGRCOTN>

My TV went out also. Power supply was the issue. I replaced the thermistor NCT-5-D13 and that fixed the problem.

You may have a power supply issue. What you need to do is to get the schematic for you TV. You can do this by calling the manufacture and asking for the service manual and the engineering diagrams for the TV. They will charge you but that is part of the cost of fixing these sets. After you have the schematic get a multimeter (you will need it to take voltage measurements. Or you can just get the scematic and ask one of the shops on FixYa to troubleshoot the problem and fix it for you. In any event this problem should be handled by a qualified technician.

Akai 32" wide screen lcd tv/dvd combo LCT3201AD

This may be an instance were the idea was great but the execution wasn't thought out. I've heard of several related problems that may be related. Both the TV and the DVD player tend to produce heat, not in great abundance, but together a sizable amount of heat. The power supply may have been ample for the TV at first but with the addition of the DVD player was not able to handle the extra load. If still under warranty you're all set. If not you might call Akai and see what they might be able to do for you.

Although not a great solutin it does allow me to use my fairly new and expensive LCD TV. Heres what I do, UNPLUG THE TV FOR 20 -30 MINUTES, WHEN PLUGGED BACK IN YOU NEED TO VERY QUICKLY PUSH THE POWER BUTTON ON THE TV.
Let e know if this works fo you.

See my other support issue regarding a simillar problem: http://www.fixya.com/support/t155367-red_line Since this is a row of dead pixels and the TV is under warranty, you need to either contact the manufacturer or even exchange it at the retailer you purchased it from.
