Sony Cybershot DSC--P73

My wife dropped this camera and now the lens is stuck.

When I turn on, the screen just stays black with the word Access and then instructs me to turn off camera, and turn back on.

I am able to pull the lens out manualy, but it just stays stuck there also.

Please help. this has been a great camera.

Thanks

Same problem guys!!! LENS HAD GOT STUCK - ABOUT ONE THIRD OUT after a knock. After lots of playing, and tapping and batteries in and out tried the whole twisting and pulling thing whilst turning off and on.

After a few minutes it came free and whole lens popped out. I then had to twist the outer part of the lens to straighten that up and allow it to fully retract. Works a treat now!

PS Tried the Sony online chat support - useless!!!!

I had this problem..dropped the camera so the lens stuck and kept getting instruction to turn camera off and on. As I turned the camera on, I pulled on the lens to help it open. I also pushed on the lens to help it close as I turned the camera off. At one point I slowly pushed the lens in all the way while the camera was off. Then I had to pull the lens out a little. The lens would then open and close continuously until I turned the camera off and on a few times while pulling out on the lens as I turned the power on. This worked. I got this answer on another site. Don't throw the camera away or spend $ getting it fixed until you try this.

My lens was also stuck after being dropped. The lens did not look crooked but the lens eye was not quite level. I turned on and off while gently pulling and rotating. My lens is working now. When it is fully zoomed it is 3/4" long.

ONE MORE THING I FORGOT ON 11/30/07 post.....turn the lens at the base of the lens after it starts moving on its own as if you are trying to tighten it.

The lens on my Sony Cybershot got bent after being dropped. Tried following advice above and it didn't work. I applied pressure (pushing in) on part sticking out, and applied pressure pushing out on the short side. The lens popped back into position and now works fine.
