All cables connected - power supply in all other respects OK - events leading to problem : turned printer on and off - now "on" button does not fire it up....
If it does not light up at all , then that means that there is an internal fault or no power is getting to the printer.
Check power cord connection, try unplugging and plugging back. Do this with printer not connected to computer.
If still no luck that there is a broken contact (typically a broken solder joint on printer power socket), or some component had blown inside the printer.
The printer must be taken apart and tested to fix the problem.

Oct 13, 2012 - I have an Epson R300, about 3 years old. It's been great but yesterday Iwent to print a page (printer was already turned on) and it wouldn't do ... Just had the same problem with my R300, it locked up and it would not turn off.
First replace the fuse in the plug or try another power lead, if you still have no lights on the printer at all then the printer PSB has failed & will be uneconomical to repair.
The documentation for the epson printer is rather detailed though, and it is possible I missed it somewhere, but I would try the above link for more leads that may lead to a solution.

You only need the 2 cables you've mentioned Try Disconnecting the printer from the PC and re installing the drivers Don't reconnect the printer until told to during driver install make sure it is turned on.
Power on...press advance button....press down arrowed button until options in printer screen stops...press maintenance button....ink cart replacement appears in window ...press OK
