Power off the mains. The filter is located behind the silver plate at the back of the machine at the bottom. Four screws hold it on. Drain out all the water. The filter is inside the big black rubber hose attached between the pump and the main drum. Remove the plastic clip holding it to the pump unit and then the metal cir clip holding it to the main drum. Inside is a white molded cone and a big white ball which floats. You will find a lot of junk here, clean out thoroughly. To refit put white cone back inside just as you found it, at the bottom, fit ball back into the cone. Attach to the bottom to the drum and re-fasten the cir clip. Finally reconnect the gator to the pump unit and tighten the plastic clip. Check out the pump too before reconnecting.

Door will not open have wash cycle

Switch off, put in spin/drain cycle and switch back on; check water is fully drained and then check filter. If not all drained, lower hose to ground level and drain to a bowl.

When the wash is finished it doesnt drain the

Make sure that there is no blockage in the drain hose and that it is not kinked. Is the drain hose installed correctly? If you have connected your machine to a sink waste system, make sure that you have cut out the membrane from the under sink drainage system.
Ensure that the drainage system, standpipe or under sink connection is free from any blockage. - If any of the above are found to be the cause of your problem you will need to run the machine through a spin only programme. If you have chosen ‘Rinse Hold’, the light will flash until you press the ‘Rinse Hold’ button to continue the programme.

The 3 buttons

button selection : To select an option press the button and you will see a light come on above the button. Press again to cancel and the light will go out. You cannot alter the options once the machine is running. Note : remember to cancel buttons after use!

As you look at the machine
Left hand button... Rinse Hold.. use this option to Help reduce creasing of delicate or synthetic fabrics by holding clothes in the final rinse water. The rinse hold light will flash to indicate that the programme is holding final rinse water. Complete the final spin by pressing the Rinse Hold button when light is flashing.
This is not available with Wool or Spin only programmes.

Middle Button.... Energy Save... use this option to save money and time on lightly soiled loads. This is not available with the Quick Wash, Rinse and Spin, or Spin Only programmes.

Right Hand Button .... Super Rinse... use this option for Large Wash loads and items for young children or people with sensitive skin. This option increases the water level for the first two rinses. This is not available with Cold Wash, Rinse and Spin or Spin Only programmes.

Copied from my Hotpoint FEW12 user instruction sheet.
Hope it helps.
