We have just purchased a new home and the dishwasher door will not stay open when we are loading dishes.

I am a recently retired appliance engineer of 20 years
generally speaking the door has plastic guides which are just inside the machine where the hinge goes, it sounds like these are worn, to get to view these the side panels have to be removed, sometimes a difficult job, if a built in appliance then all the unit needs to be pulled out, could be an easy repair? once access is gained to the guides
sometimes the cost or difficulty outweighs the difficulty of the repair with hinges, easy to make problem worse if not careful
if this helps please rate me
