Question about Texas Instruments TI-84 Plus Silver Edition Graphic Calculator

Divice Not Found

When I use TI connect for my TI 84 Plus (SE) I try to use TI ScreenCapture or any other program on TI connect it says, "Cannot find a device. Please ensure your divice is sucurely connected and turned on. Then press Refresh." When I checked all of those things and I hit Refresh the same message came up. Does anyone know what to do?

Re: Divice Not Found

I had the same problem, it can be fixed by using another cord as ArmyDrummer said, or try connecting to a differnt usb port

Is it possible to change the faceplate of the TI-84 Plus calculator?

Yes, you can change the faceplate of the TI 84PLUS Silver Edition only, not the TI 84 Plus. Face plates are available for purchase at the TI online store. When you go the online store, select the country, then the calculator model. You will find them under accessories for the TI 84 Plus SE.

I am attempting to transfer programs from My TI 84 SE To a TI 83 Plus. This is returning an "Error in Xmit" message. The TI 83 Plus is new and the cable connecting the two is new. Does anyone...

I've had this problem before too. I found out that one of the cables wasn't plugged in all the way even though it looked and felt like it was, so I would suggest giving it a firm extra push to ensure that the cable is all the way in. If you were trying to transfer the OS you will get an error, I'm not exactly sure if it is that same error though.

The graph won't download onto my computer to print.

Connect Calculator to computer with a TI Silverlink cable or direct USB cable. Run TI Connect. In TI connect Main screen click the ScreenCapture button and wait for the calculator to be recognized and its screen captured.
Save it as jpeg. You will be able to print it with any picture software.

I suppose they can be replaced. You should contact the TI Consumer Support Department at They will be able to tell you where in your area of residence you can have the calculators serviced and how much It will cost you.

I have heard about a Casio program that gives credit towards the purchase of Casio calculators in exchange of TI calculators. Here is the link to the trade-in program.
I believe it is worth investigating this. You may end up replacing the calculators at a lower price. Casio calculators are very good and less expensive than the TI. You will be surprised to hear that Casio is the inventor of the LCD screen.

Change TI 84 OS to TI 89 OS??

And why, pray tell, would you do such a thing? You will ruin your Ti84 Plus Silver Edition and will not have a working TI89. Besides, TI connect will refuse to transfer it.
If you like the capabilities of the TI89 Titanium, buy a cheap or used one on e-bay or and spare your TI84PLus SE.

My computer doesn't find my calculator

Install the TIConnect software on the computer.
Execute TIconnect. Connect the calculator to the computer through the USB cable or the TI Silvercable. Turn calculator ON.
In TiConnect main window, click the icon TIDeviceInfo. A small window opens. If the result is NOT FOUND, click on communication settings. Select the devive :Ti 84 Plus SE
Select cable type : USB or TISilverCable,
Select Port : Should be USB1
Click OK

If that does not work, try calc-to-calc connection with a working calculator.

Hope it helps.

Why do some TI83 program work on a TI84 plus and other don't?

Ti 83 and ti84 really have no difference and operate the same. There was something different or you had varibles used by multiple programs that conflicted w/ the ti84 and it would have done the same on the ti83. If you like to rework it and need help email me at

kinda. The TI-85 programs differently, lacks a table feature, is not upgradable, has redefinable keys, has a larger screen, is smaller, energy efficient, TI-86 semi-compatible, and is older.
The TI-84+ has archive memory, flash-upgradable, FSTN (clearer) screen, 16*8 screen, USB On-The-Go compliant, almost a centimeter longer, assembly language support, and a tad bit faster.

TI-82: $89
TI-83 Plus: $79-99
Free TI-85: $0
TI-84 plus: $119.99
TI-84+SE: $129-139
TI-89 Titanium: $149
